Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After 18 months of wonderful blogging, 'THE ADVENTURES OF MAXDOG' has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding the publication of our book, MAXDOG.

I want to leave this blog as a legacy and testament to my dear MAXDOG. This site serves as a place of sanctuary for you and I to come and reflect upon the life of our faithful canine friend. WALKIES TIME - VIDEO!

Mom took this video of us the other day just before we were about to go on our walk. We were soooo excited! You can hear me begging her to hurry up. It was really frustrating waiting for her, but we got our walk in the end. It was worth the wait!

The boarder, "Tommy", is much much better. He seems to have bounced back but still a little shaky on his feet. Granny came to visit yesterday to see him and he was all over her. Thank goodness for modern medicine.

PLEASE BE PATIENT, I'M A PATIENT.

Hey everyone...

We have a sick patient in the house.

I know I don't talk much about the 'boarder', but he's been rather dithery on his feet for the past 12 hours. Mom took him (Tommy) to the Vet who declared that our old man has possibly had a mild 'stroke'.

This is sad news, but we believe it is common for old dogs...and Tommy is 14yrs old. Anyway Mom has tucked him up in bed and he's having his meds. We are worried though because Tommy is very deaf and also becoming blind, so we are hoping that he'll manage to find his water (which is next to him).

Please keep him in your barking dreams. We'll keep you posted.

FOOD TIME!

Hi Guys....

This is what happens at food time in our household... We are fed twice a day on Eukaneuba Dog Food, but sometimes we manage to sneak tit-bits from Mom - either dog biscuits or my favourite...muffins.

I think, however, that I hold the record for the fastest time to demolish my food...30 seconds! But afterall, I am a Golden Retriever! Somehow the food is never enough - which you can see from my expression on my face when the bowl is empty.

Hello there and welcome to this blog!

Thank you for visiting me! My name is MAX. I was a cherished ten-year old Golden Retriever who lived with my family in South Africa. I shared my household with three other dogs (Who occasionally tried to take over my blog). Besides giving you an account of my daily life in this household I was a self-appointed Tour Guide. I liked to tell my readers about interesting aspects of my beautiful country. I also loved making new friends and shared my life with everybody.

This blog is a sanctuary and testament to my life. I invite you to stay a while....perhaps grab a 'cuppa', sit back and enjoy my stories of a rich and happy life. MAXDOG IN SOUTH AFRICA

MAX

Max was an energetic, healthy and wonderful Golden Retriever during the 10 years of his life. He was mainly a family dog and leader of his pack and was MAXMOM's ♥Heart Dog♥. There were four dogs in this household -MAX, TAMMY, TOFFEE and a very aged doggie - TOMMY.

In November 2009, MAX had a Mast Cell Tumor successfully removed. However on the 6th FEBRUARY 2010, after falling ill again and after extensive Veterinary tests, MAX was sent home with nothing more they could do for him. He was diagnosed with a large liver mass and was told that he had about two weeks to live.

What nobody realised was that...

MAXDOG WAS A FIGHTER! HE WENT ON TO ENJOY ANOTHER 107 DAYS OF GRACE!

Isn't that a miracle?!

During his life, Max was highly obedient, well trained and well exercised. He was a retired show-dog and had previously performed 'tricks' for a number of functions. He 'talked' on command, 'begged' on command, 'played dead' on command and he posed for photographs at every opportunity. Max was an absolute blessing to all who met him. He loved people and especially children.

TOFFEE

TOFFEE (THE KING!)is a 13 yr old MALE Maltese. He is arrogant and highly energetic, but absolutely adorable! Toffee has mastered the art of 'cuteness' and still believes himself to be leader of the universe.
KING TOFFEE loves laps and sleeping on beds. His owner, Miss "R", is away at university during the week. Although he endears himself to everyone, he pines for her in her absence. MAXMOM has to substitute as his willing 'subject' during this time.
