Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

MAXMOM IN SOUTH AFRICA

MAXDOG's CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE

Monday, April 5, 2010

A MIXED BAG...

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!

"Excuse me, MAXMOM! We would like to sleep...you are disturbing us!"

Okay!...I'LL LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE!

MAXMOM here...

Hello there everybody!

I take it you have all had a wonderful weekend and a wonderful Easter!
Here in Johannesburg, South Africa, it is pouring with rain and the earth is drenched. In fact our whole country is covered in a blanket of cloud at the moment...soaking us all and helping us migrate to our warm duvets.

Tomorrow, we have a big day. Miss "R" is scheduled to loose her wisdom by having her teeth extracted, so we won't be blogging tomorrow. Hold thumbs for her....

Don't worry...I am sure KING TOFFEE will survive!

Well, since the dogs are all sleeping, I thought I'd show you a little of our countryside.
As you know, we were out in the Magaliesberg mountains over the weekend to attend a wedding. Here are some pictures en route home...

A wet countryside road ambling adjacent to the beautiful mountains...

Weekend morning 'breakfast run' for bikers...and there were many...!

The buildings (next picture) on the R.H.S are home to the "Chicken Pie"..
apparently the best in the area. Pretty 'Cosmos' flowers line the road back to Johannesburg. You can stop there for lunch or tea...

Clouds dotted the skies...
As we get closer to the city, the low cost housing development of
 "COSMO CITY"
 'greets' you...

Also... the roads become decorated with people trying to make a living...

These are generally migrant people from neighbouring countries, who eke out a living by selling wares or making things for sale. Beadwork is a popular choice and there are some really skilled craftsmen...

Yes...that 'Aloe' plant (both in the last picture and the next) is made entirely of wire and beadwork... It's exquisite!...

Others sell their paintings...

As we nearer home, the patriotism is apparent...

This particular setting (with the main city skyline in the distance) signifies that we are almost on our personal doorstep.
Can you hear MAXDOG barking his welcome yet?

Perhaps not...he's probably snoozing!...

We remain grateful and thankful that MAXDOG is still with us!

This is his
58th day of Grace
and I feel blessed beyond measure...
He's still painfree and enjoying his walks. He is a lot more lethargic, sleeping more and not really that playful. I think TAMMY is missing his energy...but they make up for it on their walks.
Even now, during the rain, the walk is high on the priority list.!
Take care and lotsaluv to you all!
Remember... We are not here tomorrow....
will be back on Wednesday!

FINAL NOTE:
(Whilst I am acutely aware of the recent, disturbing political developments in my country, I have purposefully chosen to keep this blog positive! May I reitterate that I have chosen that my blogs be spaces for SHARING, CARING and UPLIFTING. You can get all our latest news on numerous news sites. No matter what turmoil surrounds me, I will endeavour to keep positivity my vision.)

You are probably wearing them both out from moving up the Day of Grace. I am positive Monday, April 5th is Max's 58th day of Grace. A guy could get tired rushing through these days.

Your photos are lovely as always, as is our boy Max and his girlie.
Our thoughts and prayers stay with him.

ON this 58th Day of Grace!

Cheers and hugs,

Happy 59th Day of Grace, Maxdog! And Most Good luck to Miss R and the wisdom toothie thing. I hopes she doesn't get dry rot.

My mom wanted me to tells you that your pictures of the wedding musta made a big impression on her. Her sister (my auntie) is getting married and my mom dreamed that she asked her if she had thought about getting married in South Africa and then showed her the pictures on your bloggie. BOL! I thinks that might be kind of a long way to travel to gets married, though.

Good luck tomorrow! I've had all of my wisdom teeth removed and it wasn't that bad really.

It's been rainy here too! And like your dogs, I enjoy napping during the rain. The thumping on the roof as it falls down can be comforting and calming. And who can pass up crawling into bed to cuddle with a warm dog?!

Wooos Max Dog! It looks as though woo will have a job coming up, taking care of tooth(less) ouchies in woo human.
Nothing like a good walkie to cheer them up though!

Lovely pictures as usual, Mum liked the plant art!

How funny? I think you captured Tammy's sentiment exactly with "we're trying to sleep here!!" I like the bed you've got set up for them.

The pictures from your trip are beautiful!

Good luck to Miss R on the tooth extraction! I had five wisdom teeth once upon a time that all had to be extracted. I guess it means I was extra smart!

Good luck to Miss R tomorrow. Please tell her to follow the directions very closely for avoiding "dry socket". I had my wisdom teeth out 6 months ago, and got that dreaded painful condition...

I too am so grateful that Max is still with you, by your and Tammy's sides. Days of grace...

HI Max!

We are new to your blog and wanted to say hi!

We sure hope everything goes well for your mom today. Be sure to give her lots of snuggles and kisses when she gets home.

We have just read about your diagnosis and we are so happy that you are doing well and happy.

Our sister got terribly ill in October and we have also been dealing with a chronic health issue that has been discovered. All our focus was on her so we were not blogging much but she is on track now so we are off to meet new friends and are happy that we found one so positive as you!

We look forward to seeing all of your new adventures!

Hey Max Dog and Max Mom,
Hey, we know where the CNN is on our TV so it's a GReat idea to leave not nice stuff to CNN. Dad says in etiquette class at USNA they told him never to discuss three particular subjects unless you wanted to cause an argument or upset people. We appreciate the pawsitive and uplifting.
As usual, we thoroughly enjoyed that photos of the South African countryside and its' inhabitants. There is such a busyness to it all. Things should only get more exciting as the "soccer" tournament approaches.
We have thanked GOD for Max's extended time with you. We are realists and know that his time will all too soon come but we are so appreciative and thankful for every extra day he is granted to spend with his beloved Max Mom. We will continue to pray for his comfort and well being. You're all in our thoughts and prayers as well as our hearts.
