Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

MAXDOG CONTEMPLATES HIS REALITY

mmmWOOF!
Greetings from your very "hung-over" tour guide in
SOUTH AFRICA...hic
I am MAXDOG!

Hey Guys!
These late night parties are starting to take their toll on me! :)

My overseas guests are taxing - to say the least! :)...... yawn!:0

They have got up to all sorts of shenanigans (in cyberworld) and are quite uncontrollable!:)

Im pretty speechless and in some kind of cyber-culture-shock:)

IN SUMMARY

(This is what has happened in the past week during Mango's great adventure):

* JOEY has gone missing...He took off into the African sunset with his blowtorch and started bush fires all over the place! :)

*MANGO has "tried his luck" with some of our Rhino's :)

(...ummmm, being the responsible tour guide that I am...I am a little weary of the incident.

I know they are very beautiful creatures, but they are somewhat endangered!

Go slow there, Mango:)

*TANNER & PETEY have lost a pool game to our resident warthogs...

and are claiming that South Africans cheat!!! :)

* ASTA has been carefully looking after TOFFEE....in the most delicate and delightful manner, I might say :), whilst

*LACIE has instigated a midnight trip to the Vet for our dear ToFFEE ...who now truly

BUSTED!!!:)

*KHYRA has made friends with our local lion and now calls him by the affectionate name of "Butterscotch" :)

And I am just lying here reflecting on the events in my life and in my country!

On a serious note however, this is what is really happening in SA:
We have a Tanker stranded in this beautiful bay below
(in Cape Town);

It is about to be wrecked by a fast approaching cold front.
It's stocks of oil may be spilled into our beautiful ocean and on one of our most prestine beaches and it seems that we are fighting a losing battle!!!

Our beautiful penguins and other wild life are threatened, yet again!!!

When are the authorities going to realise the drastic impact their poor management has on our environment?
You may read the full story under "Shipwreck" on the Carte Blanche website:

...and ...
What is a MAXDOG tourguide supposed to do?

Lots of licks to you all

Max,
Sorry if we are being a bother, but you did promise adventure, right? It is most distressing to hear about that tanker. Those poor little animals.

Slobbers,
Mango

Oh, that is SO awful about the tanker!! My human gets so mad when she hears about all these other selfish humans who just don't care about the environment or other creatures who share the Earth!!

The thought of that lovely beach filled with oil and the wildlife suffering as a result makes my heart ache. Although I live thousands of miles from you, this world one world and all of us should feel sadness when a part of it is harmed. I am hoping that your fears do not come to pass. Please keep up updated.

Terrible news about the tanker. You are right, when are the authorities going to realise the drastic impact their poor management has on our environment?

Hi Max! Wow, a lot going on there. Really upsetting about the potential spill. Wonderfully beautiful beaches and sea-scape.

You are a great tour-guide, and 'news reporter'! We look forward to more.

Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses!

We have had the occasional oil tanker incident in the UK and it is awful. Trying to save the wildlife is so sad.
Just to sit and watch all that oil leaking is heart breaking.
We are sorry to read this.

Hi Max and all the rest of your pack! I've been following your adventures but haven't left comments yet. I've enjoyed the wildlife and scenery and shennanigans of your guests. Thank you for hosting the party. I live on a bay too, but it's not as pretty as yours. Probably cuz of all the shipping traffic. I hope everything works out ok, I read the article and they did seem to be making some headway removing the oily stuff. Maybe Joey was helping with the nighttime rescue of the ships crew? He is helpful like that.

So much going on in your life just at the moment, remember, us old chaps have to learn to pace ourselves.
Coming from an oil town myself, I understand all about the dangers associated with keeping the world suppled with 'black gold'. Oh I do hope that beautiful beach and its wildlife are spared.
Cheers, H.

Max, that is terrible news about the tanker. All the wildlife that will be effected and the horrendous impact it will have on the local environment.

You are doing a very good job there as tour guide though Max - you must be getting worn out at this stage!

Love the new header photo of you swimming!

Take care
Clive

Max, I hope your guests settle down soon. It must be very tiring for you to keep track of all of them.

licks and sniffs, Sasha

I am so sorry to read about the tankard. I am going to keep up with the story and I will hope and pray that it works out somehow. I hate the thought of those penguins and innocent animals having to be threatened by something that should have been controled. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
