Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

OUR SUNDAY WALK

mmmWOOF!

Today I thought I'd finally introduce my neighbouthood to all my furfriends.
I think it's a great idea, then you guys can finally see where I live!

I thought we'd do the long walk together - our early, Sunday morning, 5km walk. No, this isn't the only walk we get! We are lucky dogs and we are usually walked daily. Our daily walks however are usually shorter and more sedate. Mom and Dad like to take us on a longer and faster walk over the weekends.
So yesterday morning Mom grabbed her camera, donned our leashes and off we went.
I have to say, that once Mom has her camera in hand, our walks are slowed down SIGNIFICANTLY!!
---x---
Here goes Guys.......

Setting out in the early morning sunshine. It's about 7am and look how bright it is!

This house is the oldest house in our area. It's called "Hymany House" and named after the original farmer (yes farmer!). This old farm house was built in the early part of last century and is now privately owned. The jakaranda trees in its garden were planted by that first 'farmer' so they are over 100 years old! Sadly this old house now has houses built up all around it.

All the Coral trees are ablase with read flowers at the moment!
(Mom loves them!)

This is my favourite cactus bush on our walk. Mom can't understand why I have to leave pee-mail on it every time I pass here. I keep telling her that if you are a dog, you would understand!
(Amazingly I have learned to defy all its prickly defences)

Our walks are always fraught with frustrated, loud, barking colleagues, who would love to walk with us. Their body language always makes Mom nervous as they are quite unpredictable when their owners leave their gates open....scary stuff!! (for Mom)

One can really understand why there are so many dog attacks in this country. Our houses all have high walls, security gates, electric fences and an edgy concern about all the crime which goes on. No wonder our dogs are also aggitated!

But not my pretty girlfriend - Tammy - she just strolls along quite comfortably and quite beautifully! Don't you think she is gorgeous!?!
...(psst...nearly as beautiful as Ammy!)

This picture below is of a pathway - which stretches for about a kilometre - along our walk.
We think it is very pretty and has a beautiful display of South African succulents.

Sometimes we see strange bushes!...
LOOK WHAT SOME POOCH'S PEE-MAIL DID TO THIS TREE!! (Must be Mango!)
...and sometimes the Pee-mail is soooooo interesting too! ....Breaking news!!!

Mom likes all the blossoms which are out at the moment...

afterall IT'S SPRING HERE IN SOUTH AFRICA !!!
Occasionally she lets us stop for a breather and a photo-opportunity!

Oh, and yes....and the jasmine is out too!!!
It's the fragrance of our Spring and signals the change in our seasons.

Finally, when we get to this street, we know we are nearly home.

Let's race! Our water bowls are just around that corner!
Hope you enjoyed our walk and our neighbourhood.
Lots of licks

That Tammy is quite the looker I must say.

Your neighborhood is pretty. Too bad all those frustrated doggies barking at their fences.

Hi Max
What a lovely walk. It's great seeing where my blogging pals live. Was that a tree or a corkscrew??
This week, I didn't get to go on a nice Sunday walk, and was stuck on a train for EVER instead. Not fair!
Cheers, H.

You sure do live in a pretty place. I think we would be scared of those wild animals behind the gates.
