Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"

THE ENERGISER PACK...

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!

Hello there to all my friends across the world!

THIS IS DAY 20 OF MAX'S GRACE!

Thank you all for your messages of encouragement and upliftment. I feel rather numb and short of words this morning, so I thought I'd share another photo-sequence of interaction between the pooches.

This morning, after breakfast I went back to our bedroom to attend to a few things. As usual, the dogs all followed me. If you haven't guessed by now...I ALWAYS have a tail of furry friends !!!

In the bedroom they found their places to settle down. As is usual nowadays MAXDOG immediately chose his bed. Indeed wherever I go nowadays, he flops to the floor and drifts off to sleep at my feet.

I can see that the other dogs know that something is up and it's so interesting to simply watch their behaviour.

TOFFEE was in a playful mood this morning - taking full advantage of MAXDOG's lethargy to get my attention. I grabbed one of MAX's toys and started playing with the KING...

As you know, toys in the house are totally usurped by MAX. He doesn't appreciate others playing with his stuff. He looked on with disdain and then decided that enough was enough...He was having his toy back!...

BUT... Perhaps it was really an ingenious strategy, initiated by KING TOFFEE to get MAXDOG energised again?
Who know? TAMMY seemed part of the strategy too...

She loves getting him to drop his toys and play with her instead...

He gives in for a short while and then reaches for another of his many toys - whilst TAMMY watches attentively...

Okay, playing with toys is tiring work!
MAXDOG chooses to rest instead. His toy is firmly tucked under his neck...

TAMMY tries to convince him otherwise and he picks it up instead...

"Yes MAXDOG..we do understand! They are all YOUR toys!"...

"Your faithful pack remains at your side...for as long as you wish!
We promise to leave your toys alone!"

So, another beautiful day is ahead of us.
MAXDOG is here and he's okay for the moment.
No matter what, we will embrace today!
Enjoy your day too!

We love and appreciate you all!
"C"

Hi Max.

You're so lucky to have your best friends with you all the time trying to keep you energised and happy.
And we all know that your toys belong to you - so do Toffee and Tammy.
I think they're both so sweet to stay by your side and I'm sure they all know whats going on.
Remember to enjoy your life with him.
May you live long and happy.

It's wonderful to see the playful and loving interactions among your pack. I think that you're right about the others knowing that something is up. I bet that even MaxDog knows. And, like dogs always do, they're following their hearts, loving each other and you for each day of grace.

Happy Friday, Max, Toffee, and Tammy. What a great trio of furiends and family you make!! The gentle looks of love on all three faces shines through. We think you are on to something there about King T tricking Max into a little bit of play. Life is grand when you have love all around you.

Our dogs know what we need, sometimes before we even know we need it. Max's pack knows what he needs when he needs it without them exchanging one bark.

If our dogs can sniff our cancer and predict an epileptic episode, there is NO reason to believe that they cannot sense what Max needs and when he needs it. We rely on our dogs for so much - it stands to reason that, as the ORIGINAL pack animal, they rely on each other, too, for all of the same reasons.

Max you have an incredible pack loving you - human and animal - and, when you look at the state our world is in - who, really, are the animals?

Holding you and your family close to my ♥ today. I am loving you and praying for you and sending you angels to comfort you as you continue with your circle of life...

Dear Max's Mom!! You and Max dog continue to nearly leave me speechless...and that doesn't happen much with this Southern girl. I viewed the sequence of pictures, I can't help but notice Max seems to have a glow about him and such diginity. His expressions are so full of words one can almost speak for him. He knows he is LOVED!!! The actions of Toffee and Tammy are truly amazing too. Oh what we humans can learn from these three puppies!!!
Many hugs to you all,
Madi and Mom

Just for your info, I don't share my toys either. Sometimes if you do, they come back wrecked!

Hello Max,

We are so happy to see through these photos how Toffee and Tammy are doing such a great job in helping Maxdog Mom make the most of each precious moment with you.

Your stuffies are really adorable. It's funny how they both want to get their paws on them but it's funnier how you keep them close to you, even under your neck.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you always.

I too have a few followers where ever I go in the house. Especially when we had 3 dogs, I would always tell my husband that I felt like the pied piper!! Thank goodness there are doors on the bathroom, or I'd be stared at by 6 eyes instead of having a moment of privacy!!
You go, Max! You inspire us all!!

Hi Max and Toffee and Tammy! It is great to see Max is still doing well. And I think it is great that Toffee and Tammy are there for him, and try and keep his spirits up! He is so lucky to have so much love around him.

Sending lots of purrs and prayers!

I have no doubt Tammy and King Toffee know that Max's time is near. And I also have no doubt that they stole his toys to get him to play!

I'm so amazed by Max and his strong will to continue on.

I know I don't know Max but I still love him all the same.

My chihuahua Shiver likes to think all of the toys belong to him too.

Happy 20th day of grace Maximum Max. Yes, we know all too well what it means to have your best pals around you.

C, my family and I hold you in our hearts and lift you up in our prayers. It is fraying upon the fringes of your spirit to watch and wait. You are a terrific mama.

Thank you for your warm and thoughtful comment for Achilles. Yes, we know all too well what you are going through. We've been there twice, and it does not get any easier. Achilles was almost 15 and we felt robbed of more time with him since we'd only rescued him at 13. It seems even more unfair for you and Max since he is younger than Achilles was. But, whatever time is willed for you two, it will be precious, bittersweet, and it will warm your heart until you meet again.

All our love & support to you & Max. Give him a warm hug for us today.

And you just made our day again!!! Yes, I too believe that the King new what he was doing. He was testing the water and it worked. And then Tammy followed his example. What a pack. The photos were amazing.
Cheers Maxie!!! Have a grrreat day and a fantastic weekend.

Max
Toys have always surronded you and have been your very special friends.
In their own way, they made you laugh and play.
In their own way, they made you feel like running with the wind. They were yours.
Toffee brought you one of your toys to cheer you up.
Toffee asked "who wants to help love Max today,"?
And the little toy, spun around ans said "pick me."
When you laid your head across the toy and cuddled it,
well,,,
I know it was your way of saying "thank you" to the special toy for being your friend all these years.
And then I saw you wink at Toffee and Tammy- thanking them for thinking of you.
I would bring you one of my toys to cheer you up- if it would help.
love

Hey Max Dog, Ms. Tammy, Ms Caryl and MR KING TOFFEE,
Boy, Ms. Caryl sure take GReat photograph; and these will be such a cherished album. We fully commensurate with the toy ownership situation. We have a saying around here; "All Toys Are Jubal's." Hed only graciously allows the rest of us to occasionally play with them. We are glad that you are having another comfortable and happy day together; cherish them all. As always, we hold y'all close in our hearts and prayers and wish Max many, many more such days. We love you Max.

Your post is so great... Let the dogs tell their stories through the pics when your brain is numb. They do a wonderful job of it. It is so cute to see the way they help him keep up his morale, and I'm sure they bring smiles to you too! Our love and prayers and crossed paws are still with you each day! The CCC and their Grammy
