MAXDOG's CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE

GOD BLESS OUR VETS!

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXDOG
here...

Hello there dear Friends!

I hope you are having a happy weekend! I am very comfortable and soldiering on nicely. Thank you for your constant stream of well wishes.

I must apologise for the arrogance of my brother, TOFFEE. He really has a high opinion of himself, but underneath all the pomp and ceremony, he's okay!...tolerable!...sometimes cute! I'm very grateful to him for all the work he's putting into my blog. My girlfriend, TAMMY, has also expressed her desires to post sometimes. Who am I to complain!?!

As you all know, I am very sleepy nowadays...most of my days are in my 'traditional' pose and I make sure that I plant myself firmly next to Mom.

(To keep an eye on her!..Afterall, that's my main job!)

Sometimes I even sleep ON her feet - just to make sure that I wake up when she moves!

(She can't fool me!)

Anyway, Mom often makes trips into the garden. I use the opportunity to 'catch' up on all the local 'flower news'. Usually our whole pack goes out with mom to enjoy our sunny South African sunshine.

Geesh!....Mom's camera is always present and she caught me in the most embarrassing position!....

TAMMY always stays at my side.
She checks looks out for me the same way that I look out for Mom! Thanks TAMMY-GIRL!!!

...As you all know by know ...
(wink-wink!)
TOFFEE IS KING!
(We'll just appease him...shall we?!?)

TAMMY couldn't care less...so long as she's able to lie on the cool grass outside...close to me!

...while I sniff my flowers!...

...and smell the air...

BUT...
When Mom calls, we ALL obey!
Our recalls are excellent!
(Okay...MY recall is excellent!)

Well, it's time to catch up on some zzzzz's!
But before I go, I want to tell you how much I appreciate these Vets!
...you see, they have a very difficult job to do!
Sometimes they help us heal and sometimes they help us over to the rainbow bridge. We sometimes moan like crazy about them, but they really are a truly dedicated bunch and I would like to say...

... thank you to my Vets too!

Here is a 'prayer' that Mom found on one of the walls in our Vet's consulting room.
It tells a story of its own.

May God bless our Vets, Veterinary technicians and Veterinary helpers of all sorts!
They deserve our thanks and recognition!
Lots of licks

Wow...yet another leg of the
Grap a cuppa...and go and look...

Thank you friends for your hospitality!

Hi Max

What a beautiful prayer.

Your recalls ARE excellent, all of you.
And sniffing flowers? Never knew of a male dog doing that. Most of the time, they'd be peeing on them.
You're so sweet Max. So is Tammy.

What a fantastic family you have Max, taking the time to "smell the roses" with you!

Tammy is lovely and obviosly cares about you very very much, as for The King, I'm sure hes a softy on the inside!

Keep well Max

Hi Max and Caryl
I just want to say thank you so much for the wonderful tribute you paid to my dear Hamish yesterday. Also to note that Max has such a huge (and deserved) influence in dog-blogging community that dozens of his friends who didn't even know Hamish have visited the blog and left words of comfort.
I shall continue to follow this blog and those of Hamish's other friend while I contemplate a new outlet for my love of dogs and blogging!
All you family, and especially Max, are very much in my thoughts at the moment.
Best wishes, Gail
PS I went to see the film Invicticus last night, which I did enjoy (I come from a rugby playing family), but all the way through I kept thinking about Max and the life in South Africa you so vividly portray through him and the other dogs.

Max, you remind me of the Story of Ferdinand the Bull. He was a big old guy that just loved to sit and smell the flowers. I think that is something we ALL need to take the time to do… Stop and sit down with our friends and smell the flowers and enjoy the sunshine and those we love.

I do the same thing with my Mom and always keep her in eyeshot… usually laying on her feet. Our Mom’s are pretty special to us aren’t they… pretty much our whole life! OC

PS The Vet Poem was beautiful and thanks for sharing it with us.

Good Morning, Max! Glad to see that you are up and about. That is a wonderful poem. We adore our vet - not only does she look after our dogs and help them through life, she is a shoulder to lean on when the news is grim and we need to cry. We can never thank her enough for all the work she does!

I couldn't agree more about our vets. When I find the ones that suit our needs, I value them like fine gold. They're so caring, about our animals and us (the people).

Despite being sleepy, your posts sound as if Max is having a quietly content time with all those who love him and who he loves around him. Having a time like this to prepare and shower him with even more love is a blessing, in my opinion. I hope that your family spends a loving weekend together.

I agree about the vets...they are wonderful caring people. Great poem.

Looks like you are enjoying the sunshine with your family. One of my mom's human friends is even following your blog now to check on you Maxdog and she's not even a dog blogger. You are touching so many people MaxDog.

Hey Max,
Please know that we keep you close in our hearts and prayers everyday. It is important to take the time to stop and smell the roses, even more so if you can do it with those that you love and who love you. Don't mind that the little GUY Toffee has a big ego (Napoleonic complex). We will be most gracious with him and allow him his way as do you. We really liked the veterinarian's prayer. Our mom is going to college to get an Associate's degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
We are so glad that you are comfortable and enjoying the Grace of God and hope that you have many more happy and comfortable days. We love you Max Dog; we truly love you.

Hi Max, I'm so glad you've got sunshine to go out and enjoy because here in Colorado we have snow. You are such an incredible dog Max and so well loved!!! Tammy is one lucky girl to have won your heart. As for Toffee-I was one of the ones who miss took his handsomely rugged looks for a cute little gal...so sorry, how could I have been so blind.
Have a wonderful, loving peaceful day Max, and hey when you get to the bridge could you look out for my Sadie girl-short little shepherd/bassett mix who I miss terribly...she crossed over on Christmas.
Hugs to you and your family.

I've just found your blog and am so sad to hear about Max. I have a six year old Golden Ret. and Max looks so much like her.

She loves going outside and diggning in what I call, her den. It's a fern area that she keeps her old toys in.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell ...

Dear Max, I wholeheartedly agree with you about the care we pet families receive from our dedicated vets. We love and appreciate our vets, and we know every day is not easy for them either! They have helped our older brother and sisters over the Bridge with love and compassion.

Meanwhile, we think you look very good! We also wish to say hello to Tammy and express our utmost respect as we bow to King Toffee!! Hugs to you all xoxo Toby, Ginger, Jeter & Halle

We cherish our moments with you and we have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Love that vet prayer!

Goodness, no wonder you sleep so much! You've traveled the world over and must be exhausted.

I once had a little fox terrier who liked to sniff the flowers. She'd sneeze and sneeze afterwards and then go back for more. Made me laugh every single time!

Dearest Maxdog, we received your mom's note about posting comments and we may have a clue. We have NO issues with commenting; however, it seems that some sort of advertisement has attached itself to your blog. How do we know? Because when we click to comment and when the comment window pops up, so does a full screen advertisement! Sometimes for a Casino and usually for something a bit tasteless. This has been going on for about 10 days or so...

If you need some help removing it, let my mom know because she has removed them from our blog when they have attached themselves to us!

Or, email my mom and she will try to explain to you how do do this yourself☺

PS: Those with a pop-up blocker for third parties that is activated would not be able to comment on your page.

yup. my vet too... she helped my dingo Maggie with liver cancer to walk for the last 6 months of her life. the cancer had gotten so big, it pushed on her spine (x rays showed the problem). we knew she had cancer but couldn't figure out why she couldn't walk. the tumors. she couldn't take drugs cuz her liver was not good. so we did accupuncture. it got her back to walking again, with dignity. even on her last day. i love my vet so much. and she happens to be a friend of mine now and also a client. our vets truly are awwesome.

thanks for that max! glad you are getting around and taking in the flowers. someone's got to do it in a world too busy to stop and smell them!
