Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"

MAXDOG's CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE

OUR DAY WAS HAPPY!

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXDOG here...

Hello there to all my furry buddies from across the world!

I am having a really happy weekend. All my humans are home at the moment and this always cheers me up. Although I'm generally quite sleepy from the tablets Mom gives me at night, I am feeling really well. I am still eating all my food, enjoying life and keeping an eye on my pack.

It's really nice that TOFFEE and TAMMY are helping me out with my blog. I think they are doing a good job, but I really wanted to do a little post for you today too.

Firstly, its VALENTINE'S DAY weekend, so I want to wish all my sweet furry valentine's a wonderful day tomorrow. I love you all!

Here is a picture of one of our Malls today...

Isn't it pretty!?!

One of the nice things that happened to me today was that our little friend,
JEANNIE
came to visit us this afternoon...

She is such an energetic little doggie that she got my heart beating again. I took a long walk with her and my sweet girlfriend, TAMMY and then we came home and had a very nice cool off in the pool...

(psst...I'll tell you a secret: The reason why "The Boss"s shoe is there on the lounger (in the picture above) is that he had to clean it!!!...BOL!.!!...He stood in one of our pooS...ha! ha! ha! He wasn't impressed. Usually mom picks them up very quickly after we have used the grass, but she missed one, BOL!)

Anyway, I enjoyed cooling off in the water! I love just standing there...

JEANNIE obviously can't stand still for long...

Since we were so wet, we all got locked out of the house for a while...

But Mom is merciful (especially when we nag her!) so she put some towels down on the floor and we were allowed inside. She is a real push-over!

As you can see...TOFFEE and TOMMY DON'T SWIM!!!
These Malteses...always concerned about their looks!

...BUT it was really funny last night when TOFFEE
got stuck in a stretch...!?!
(or maybe he's now learning to 'pose' for Mom's flashy beast?!?)

With all the laughter around his 'stuck in stretch' thingy, he took refuge in Miss R's lap...

TAMMY just looked on quiety...

Okay...I've been blessed with another day and I am really grateful! Not only that, I am doing very well (according to Mom).

I WILL FIGHT THIS THING that's happening!
I WILL!
On Saturday last week the Vets told me there was nothing more they could do for me.
Well, I've had a whole week of life since this decree.
I've been blessed with seven more whole days...and counting!!!
You can't get rid of a good dog that fast!

One way to fight, is to rest!...And Im doing a lot of that!

I just wanted to finish off this blogpost by saying THANK YOU to the NSLM (Assistance dog for Autism) for allowing me to choose the guide dog/service puppy which they are sponsoring in my honour.
Please go to their blog to look at the adorable puppies. He asked me to choose one.
It was quite a simple choice for me: ...you see, when I was a small puppy, my humans chose me because I started chewing their shoelaces. My own puppies (Yes I am a daddy!) also had the habit of chewing shoelaces....

So, you see, my choice was simple...

MAXDOG CHOOSES 'STAN'!

Thank you, Murray and Clive...he's adorable!

Lots and lotsalicks

(PS We would like to offer our sincere condolences to
as well as Wally
who have both gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Please visit them and give them some of your amazing love)

You can't get rid of a good dog that fast? My dear dear Max, I'm so happy to see your sense of humor has returned. I love your furiend for getting you out and swimming and having so much fun. I also don't know how you picked a pup. I saw them yesterday and my head was spinning. Way to be decisive.
Keep up enjoying this life for as long as you want. No doctor can tell us what to do.
A happy Twinkie

Hi Maxdog. I read your blog for the first time today. I am so sorry to know that you are ailing. From your blog I can see that you are in good hands and very loved.

I love your "sponsored puppy" Stan. He's gorgeous.

My name is Kengi. I am a 4-month old black Labrador Retriever who will hopefully become a guide dog next year. My mom is a teacher in Pretoria and I go to school with her every day. Mom thinks I'm very clever and has promoted me to Grade 6 despite that I am very young for the grade!

Tell your mom that my mom is praying for your family during this tough time. I'm glad I got to read about you and your pack. Take care till we meet one day in Heaven.

Love and licks
Kengi

It is so good to hear from you again, Max!

I'm glad you got to visit with your friend and that the two of you were able to enjoy the pool. It's a little cold for that here, plus I don't have a pool so my little chihuahuas won't be going swimming any time soon.

I think you've made it this far because you're a fighter and I keep praying for a miracle for you. I know I'm not the only one!

Good choice on choosing Stan!

Max, it's great to hear from you! Not that Toffee and Tammy aren't great at posting, too, I've just grown accustomed to your handsome face!

We loved all the pictures! It looks like you had great fun with your guest, too! I like getting my feet wet and playing in the water, but we greyhounds don't have enough body fat to swim.

Looks like a fun day and we too are grateful each and every day that we pop in to visit and hear you have had another good day. Hi Max
I wanted to check in on you and share some love with you and your family- so here I am.

I was watching you cool off in the pool and thought how it must have felt so wonderful.
Those silly maltese and their hair issues- they are quite picky pups!
Stan looks like he was an excellent choice.
I know that choosing must have been very hard.
Toffee and Tammy are doing a great job helping you everyday- I can tell.
I enjoyed the pictures of all of you.
We are all blessed to have another day with you.

Your Valentine's Mall was really pretty, and it's always nice to have "family" visitors like Jeannie! Glad to see that you are taking care of yourself and getting plenty of rest. Your Mom is doing a great job!

We had to laugh at the look on Toffee's face when you caught him "bowing" as we call it. It is one of our tricks! Was he bowing to you? NO... I guess not from that "LOOK"...
