Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

MAXDOG's CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE

ANOTHER GOLDEN DAY...and TOFFEE update...

Greetings from South Africa!!!
MAXMOM here...

Hey everyone!

I'm sorry I'm late in posting but it's been a pretty hectic day here.
This is MAXDOG's
45th DAY OF GRACE!

We woke up to overcast weather here in Johannesburg, South Africa...

...and to a very rattled little ...

TOFFEE DOG

He was shivering and distinctly uncomfortable...

So I quickly got my act together and piled him into the car and drove off to the Vet...again!

The Vet gave his little paw a thorough clean and looking over... again!
(I think I'm becoming known as the neurotic doggie-mommy)

It seems that TOFFEE was also reacting adversely to the particular cream which we were applying. After a thorough wash and drying off of his paw, a new bandage was applied over a 'betadine' gauze pad. This time it's a long lasting, sticky bandage which needs to be kept away from dewy grass.
We will be back at the Vet on Friday for another check up of his paw.

The good news is that
KING TOFFEE
is feeling much better with this new arrangement!
The dreaded satellite dish has been disbanded and he is feeling a lot more like his royal self...

In addition the Vet has asked that we "attempt" to keep him indoors at all times...
(This photo was taken during a 'wee' break!)

I don't think he has many problems with this "indoor" recommendation at all!

He is certainly a lot more comfortable and I can breath a small sigh of relief.
(I just HATE it when my animals are ailing!)

The rest of the animals are all well.
MAXDOG is looking remarkably well!...

He had a good meal at supper-time and then demanded his evening walk.
I am constanty amazed at his resilience, strength and joy of living!

TAMMYGIRL is also looking wonderful!...

So whilst I went about my busy day, the two 'love birds' enjoyed each others' company...

Just another GOLDEN day...
with my wonderful animals!

Take care and lots of love to you all!

Oh that final photo with Max and Tammy side by side, her looking at him in a caring sort of a way, is so precious.
Glad to hear that the King Toffee situation is under control and that he's lampshade free!
Cheers, Gail.

We are so glad that Toffee is doing better - it is good that he won't mind staying in too much! And Max is looking very good - I am so glad he is eating and demanding walks too - that is a good sign. It is nice that he gets to spend some quality time with his lady too!

And don't worry about being a neurotic dog mom - as a neruotic cat mom I can tell you that it is better to be safe then sorry - and in a lot of the cases you turn out to be right, like this one.

Still sending over lots of purrs and prayers!

We are so glad you had another Golden Day! It is so good to see you all doing well. The lost photo is oh so precious. You can feel the love coming through the screen!
And tell Toffee, he is officially back on king duty! OFF WITH THE CONE!

Rest easy dear boy Maxdog. We need you around even longer, angel.

That last picture of Tammy looking at Max is so sweet!

I'm a neurotic mommy too! I had a sick kitty for a lot of years who went to the vet quite regularly (several times a year!) so I make sure at the slightest sign of anything may be wrong that my little chi's go. It's better to be safe than sorry, I always say!

I hope King Toffee is feeling better now and healing nicely!

Poor King and poor momma, having all these emergency vet visits and hating it when your guys are ailing. I know, our mom feels the same about us. Well, at least overall we got good news today. Way for Max to finish all his food and demand the walk. Mwah

Totally know what you mean. When any of The Herd decides to skip a meal, or mope around, or just seems off, I am always worried about them. Glad to see Toffee respond to the new treatment - and always glad to see Max looking good.

We agree, that photo of Max and Tammy is so sweet. Kind of like a couple of aging lovers sitting side by side and looking after each other.

Sorry for the continued upsets and vet runs you're experiencing. We're sure you're not the only one who returns to the Dog Tor with concern for her dear ones!

Worey love,

Jake and Just Harry

Oh, poor Toffee. It's rough when the medicine that is supposed to make you better makes you feel worse. Not to mention the dreaded cone collar humiliation. What a little love. Of course, he needs to stay in and someone needs to have their lap available for cuddle time.
Max is looking so good. You can see in his eyes that he's having a good day. Who wouldn't with the prettiest girl beside him. Tammy is true blue.
Poor Mommy,,,your pack keeps you jumping.

Everydoggie looks Most Wonderful. Even with King Toffee's recent woes, he still looks very kingly. And wouldn't it be a lovely world if every doggie had a mom as "neurotic" as you?

The love you have for your animals is clearly seen and felt worldwide.
I'm glad it was a false alarm with Toffee-it's always scary because they can't tell you where it hurts.

Maxdog looks so handsome and it's hard to believe he is a sick boy. Please give him a get well hug from Chester and me.

Tammy is a particularly light golden-my Golden Boy, Buck was light but not as light as her. Beautiful-and what a comforting soul she is to Max.

Thanks for sharing!

Never a dull moment. Sometimes it's like that around our house too. If it's not one that's ailing, another gets an owie. Such is life when living with pets. And we wouldn't want it any other way!

Hope Toffee feels better soon!
