MAXDOG's CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE

...OF TO THE VET WE ALL GO!

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXDOG here...

Hello there to all my friends across our beautiful world!

It's day 42 of Grace for me today!

...and I'm feeling really well! (What a blessing!)

Us dogs were at the Vet again this morning and my Vet said that although the mass in my abdomen feels larger than last time, it's growth has slowed down significantly!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!!!
Hopefully this will mean that I will have a few more days of Grace.  Mom however is thrilled with the news...more so because she says that I really look well!

I'm still a little picky with my food, but then I'm not getting as much exercise as I normally would.
Sometimes I really prefer to sleep.
So all in all, my own health is holding!
We are all thrilled!

Let me tell you the news here in this household.
Last night we had a furious storm!!!
There was thunder, lightning and hail all around us...

Mom took this picture through from the back door. Although the hailstones were only about 1cm in diameter it was still scary. KING TOFFEE didn't like it one bit and crawled in next to Miss "R" on the chair...

Besides this, Mom had noticed during the day yesterday that he was behaving oddly(?).
KING TOFFEE has a habit of chewing and licking the hair between his paw pads. This is normal for him and is a behaviour which we've not really been able to stop over his 13 years, but yesterday Mom noticed that he was licking excessively.
She was horrified when she checked out his right front foot.
He was quite raw between the paw pads....Ouch!
So she bandaged his foot up so that he wouldn't lick it during the night and this morning we ALL went to the Vet.

Mom also wanted our Vet to check out a lump on TAMMYGIRL.
(After my experiences she wanted to make sure!)
Well TAMMY's litte spot has good news...
it's only a wart! Whew!
( I still  think my girlfriend is sweet...warts and all!)

And then Mom wanted the Vet to see me too....
She said something about 'showing him that I was still here!'
(I have no idea what she means by that!?!)

Anyway, on the way to the Vet, this is what we saw...

Yes, there are quite a few of us kitty lovers in this country!!!

Anyway the Vet had a good look at KING TOFFEE ...
and says that he thinks the little fluffball has a grass allergy.

It has been really hot and humid here in Johannesburg, South Africa recently and he says that lots of doggies are suffering at the moment.
TOFF's habit of licking his paws has now been fuelled by the allergy, so Mom has to bandage up his paws to stop him licking. He's also been given some cream and tablets, but he looks like a real little boxer! (Will show you later!).

On the way home from the Vet, we stopped at the pharmacy to get some more bandages for KING TOFFEE. Mom, Miss "R" and us doggies waited at the car while the Boss ran (Can he run?) into the shops to get everything.  It was really hot today, so Mom opened up the boot and allowed us doggies to cool off...

TAMMY sat outside ...

Although the "Boss" was only gone for 5 minutes,
 it really was HOT!!!...
so Mom tried to find some shade for us...

"Excuse me, TAMMY...I think this is my spot!...

"Oh Great!!! Here he comes!!!...

Well at last we were home and Mom got down to really wrapping up both of KING TOFFEE's front paws!
(If she doesn't wrap up both, he'll start on the other one!)

Anyway, he sure looks like a boxer to me
(not a doggie boxer! A human one!)...
...even Miss "R" thought so...

Boxer or not...we love him anyway!!!...

But KING TOFFEE feels anything but a KING at the moment!
In fact he's taken to sleeping under the coffee table!
(When laps are unavailable, of course!)...

Mom says the KING's subjects should not worry!...
...we'll look after the KING well!
He has many attendants in this household!

---xXx---

Now one other thing...

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Ms Mimi at

She has been doing some amazing work on my blog for a while now!

Amongst many things, she has helped the MAXDOG upload some special videos for you to see.

Go and have a look at the sidebar...there are two videos for you to check out!!!...

The first one shows you SOME of the commands which my girlfried and I have learned.
The second video shows you the 'end' of our regular afternoon walk.

I hope you enjoy them!!!

WE ARE REALLY GRATEFUL!!!

---xXx---

After that big RUN to the park, this is what I look like...

"DELIGHTFUL!"...wouldn't you say?!?

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
I will see you all on Monday!

Toffee looks kind of silly with his bandages. I hope that he doesn't eat them. That paw licking can be bad for sure.

You all went to the vet at once? Great! And everybody seems to be doing pretty well too. Now go cool off.

Mango

Max, what a VERY long tongue you have, WOWZA! Momma says that it would be furry good for washing windows!

We are SO happy that your dog-tor says that your lump/bump is growing slower. That is SO cool. Yesh, prayers and good thoughts and wonderful PAW rents ALL have something to do with your health. After all, medicine is a good thing but we all know that the spirit inside needs nurturing, too.

Hugs, to all.

Wonderful news from the vet!!...Toffee looks cute as a boxer although I know it's no fun for him; hope his allergies get better soon with the meds...Love the photos of all the babies and as always, blessings to everyone and wishes for a happy weekend together.

I enjoyed the videos. That took lots of work and effort on your part to get Max and Tammy to be such good demonstrators of what dogs are capable of!!

King Toffee looks adorable with bandaged paws.......

Glad everyone is ok, warts and all!! xoxo

Max, you are such a miracle! I luvs that last picture with your Most Magnificent tongue hanging out. Most Impressive. I am sorry King Toffee has to have bandages on his feetsies. I bet that's no fun for him but gosh, does he ever looks cute. (Is it okay to call royalty "cute"?)

The picture of Miss R kissing The King is just precious. But watch out Miss R; I hear The King has quite the left hook! I hope his allergies pass quickly. My Trouper also has allergies, and it's no fun for a pooch!

Woofs to everyone!

Please keep us posted on how long you manage to keep those bandages on Toffee. He doesn't look like he is delighted to find his feet wrapped up.

Hello Max!

Great news! We are thrilled to hear about you doing a-ok. Eating more yum food would help more. Enjoy many more walkies, alright?

Poor Toffee had his royal paws wrapped for now. Have a bit of patience, King Toffee, you'll get those bandages off when your paws are better.

We continue to have our paws crossed for you. We also like the photo of Ms. "R" with Toffee.

Oh, poor Toffee! We feel bad for him. Being royalty ourselves, we can appreciate what he must go through, and then to have to wear those bandages and look most unregal must be a burden on him! We're glad to hear that all of you are doing so well.

Almost exactly a year ago, my S, a yellow lab, was diagnosed with cancer. We had almost 2 months of grace - and I remember it as such a peaceful and loving time. Of course, I remember the stress and heartbreak also, but the months of grace were a gift from the heavens.

As I read your posts, I feel so happy that you realize that these are days of grace and are appreciating them to their fullest. I didn't fully realize the amazing journey that we were experiencing as I went through it a year ago... but that's OK - the memories of the love flowing in our family will never fade.

BTW, I don't think that the KING would like such un-regal photos of himself being seen around the world :) But, I won't tell...

I love the MaxDog and Tammy photos. What a pair of beauties. I wish that I could hug them from here.

Oh poor King Toffee. He looks so pitiful with those bandages on him.

When I read how good Max is doing, I paused and said thank you god. What a blessing that the lord hears our prayers. I pray that Max has many more good days to come.

Also, I watched the video's. My goodness they are so smart. I was really impressed.
Have a nice weekend. Lots of Love.

Looking at King Toffee, I can't help but wonder if those bandages are hot! Poor little guy!

I'm thrilled that Tammy's spot is nothing more than a wart. What a relief you must've felt at such good news!

And I'm beyond excited that Max's growth has slowed down. Not so happy that it's bigger but at least it's slowed!

I hope the little footies get betters soon. Poor little fluff ball Toffee.
And Tammy- I am happy it was just a wart. My moms check every little freckle I have too.
And Max, I am also happy your lumpy is slowing down- or not growing fast.

I don't know if you have it in SA but Listerine (bacterial mouth wash) has been found to be very effective for lick sores and hot spots. Another 'home' cure/treatment is Gold Bond Powder. If you can't get them in your neck of the woods, let me know. I think I can send some of the powder to you in my package.

Phantom sends his sympathies to King Toffee. He did not like having to wear his shirt last summer so he fully understands that Toffee is not too happy about his new boxing gloves. Maybe when his paws are healed, he can wear some doggie booties. Brutus posted a while back about some nice ones his Mom had found.

We are thrilled to hear your good report, Max, and that Tammy's lump is an OK one. Paws crossed for many more good days for MaxDog.

Happy Sunday.

Hey Max and Ms. Caryl and gang.
Was Ms. "R" beating up MR TOFFEE,; it looked like she had sparing glove on.
Boy, that sure looks like a lot ofd bandages on Toffee. Homer J. likes to start on his front pawqs every now and then. Dad keeps a stash of his old white athletic socks that have holes in them and stuff so that whenever Homer J. starts a lickin' hengets a sock but on his paw. It only takes one piece of tape around the hock to hold it up and it takes less than a minute to put on and/or to replace. The socks are washable, keep the paw from getting licked and since they're already bought and paid for, they're free. And it's recycling for a purpose. And Homer doesn't look like a catastrophic victim or war veteran. Socks are "cute." We're glad that MD is feeling well and enjoying his period of Grace; we know that we're ecstatic about it here in Bumpass. Holding you all in our hearts and prayers as we always do because, well, we love; that's why.

Wow! That is all such very good news, and we hope Toffee heals quickly with her "boxing gloves!" Great photo of Miss R with the gloves as well! Perfect! Max's tongue definitely rivals Thor's! I hope you all got to have a dip in the pool when you got home - the heat seemed to take a bit out of all of you - hope it cools off some today. But we are truly happy to hear about the fact that Max's tumor is growing slower - what good news - so happy for you to get this info - you GO Max! You and your mom are such a gRRRReat team! We send you oodles of love and hugs - all of you - and Mimi is wonderful with blog help - will go check out those movies!

OH, MAX!!! Grammy is leaking because she says she is SO HAPPY to hear how well you are doing! She needed some good news after what’s been going on, and your news and your “HOT” picture gave her just the lift she needed!

We, in the meantime, are doing lots of corgi “Happy Dances” all around the house for you and that Tammy is fine, too! We are not so happy to hear the frustrating news about poor Toffee’s feet. It must be totally miserable for him to have his feet wrapped in all the heat you guys are having. We will have to add more prayers for him as well as continuing to pray for you and the rest of your family… with prayers of thanksgiving as well!!! Linda, OC and the CCC
