WEEKEND ROUNDUP...

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXDOG here...

Hello there everyone!
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!
I am still up and running on this my...

51st DAY OF GRACE!!!

There hasn't been much change in me...
I remain comfortable, painfree, asking for my walks, sleeping a lot and following Mom around the house.
Although I'm not really keen on eating my food, Mom says I'm still getting in more than enough nutrients to live a comfortable life. The Vet has given me some appetite stimulants and although I don't like eating in the morning, I don't mind a good meal at night.  So for the moment, I am really thankful to have the time to spend with my family and you all!

---xXx---

We all had a busy weekend. The girls were home and there were lots of things for the peeps to catch up on.  Although I spent most of my weekend around Mom's feet, I did go outside to watch the build up of the 'thunderheads'.  Today soft, falling rain has settled in and it's a cool day.
I am sure that I'll be indoors most of the day.

Anyway, on Friday evening the peeps left us doggies here at home and travelled across the city to a place called:
CARNIVAL CITY...

It was a long drive in heavy traffic but they had booked tickets for something very special...

Although this place is predominantly a Casino and Entertainment centre, it was host to the evenings special entertainment...

Yes! The family had booked tickets and had gone to see

THE GREAT MOSCOW CIRCUS!!!

Mom says that the acts were unbelievable, death defying and spectacular!!!
She spent most of the evening with her jaw on the floor in disbelief!

Carnival City is entertaining in itself. The architecture and decor is all 'Carnival'. The place was buzzing with crowds and noise (Mom has difficulty with this!). Although the 'peeps' aren't gamblers, it was interesting to observe all the activity...

The show itself was really extraordinary and worthwhile and the 'peeps' got home very late indeed!.

Mom hasn't been feeling very well throughout the entire weekend so the sweet "Boss" bought her a beautiful bouqhet of flowers...

"THANK YOU, 'BOSS'!"

Yesterday afternoon she felt a bit better however and some of my family popped by our local gym.  I thought I'd show you a few pictures because I know that my friends across the seas like to see interesting things about our local environment. Here are some of our 'gym' photos...

(Mom thinks that the name of this gyme is an oxymoron!..BOL!)

This is what it looks like inside...

There is a small juice bar...

...plenty of equipment, two studios, squash courts, physiotherapist, beauty salon, sun beds and a large swimming pool.  Many of our South African swimmers train here too...

The gym also caters for disabled people with wheelchair lifts between their different levels. If you look at the next picture you will see the 'lift' at the bottom left of the picture
(The picture is taken from the top of the stairs)...

...and added bonus of this gym is that Mr "R" works here too as one of the part time trainers...

Unfortunately however, dogs aren't welcome...(sob!)
...but TAMMY and I enjoy lying outside watching the thunderclouds instead...

Here's wishing you all a wonderful and happy week!

To my friends out there who are perhaps struggling with their health or personal circumstances...

We send a special cyber-hug!
To the doggies who are ill...

We send lots of prayers and warm, get-well wishes!

We love you all so much!!!

Lots of licks

We are happy to hear that you are still holding your own so well, Max! In terms of appetite, even I find that I am much keener on my food in the evenings. I wonder why?

Have a good week and stay strong Maxdog, I hope your Mom feels better too!!
By the way I thought of you when I saw on the news the "worlds largest chocolate Easter Bunny" was in South Africa (Sandton City?)

Morning Max

We're very happy to read that you are doing so well! I don't eat in the mornings ever - only take a meal in the evenings! Bit like the NSLM's Mom - who claims she can't look at food first thing in the morning!

Hope you have a good week!

lots of love
Clive

ps-Murray would have loved that Circus!

Hey Max Dog,
WOW! What an informative post; we do like seeing the South African culture. Carnival City seems like a compact Las Vegas. You're looking good anbd we are glad to see that. We are praying for you every day of course; and we think of you often. You are part of our hearts and souls Max. We love you. Be strong and comfortable.

Great post! Loved the Carnival and the Active gym. Your gym is very posh! I like how the treadmill walkers or runners can amuse themselves by watching the swimmers! Very pretty setup.

Happy 51st Day of Grace, Max. You look Most Handsome as always!

Gosh, it sounds like your mom had an awfully busy weekend. That circus thing looks like fun. But tell your mom to not feel bad cuz I have a problem with noiseyness and lots of peoples, too!

And I don't gets those gym thingies. Seems like a lot more fun to run around and chase a ball in the backyard.

You're right, Max, we do like to see what's going on in other parts of the world. Now, when South Africa pops up in the papers or on TV, our ears pop up too (actually one of mine pops up regardless, but that's another story).

We hope those flowers soothed your mom, and that you and all our other ailing pals feel our wirey zen!!

Wirey love,

Jake of Florida (Just Harry too)

Nice weekend roundup thanks Max. And don't worry, you're so much better off lying on the grass enjoying the fresh air than you would be inside a gym with all those sweaty humans...
Cheers! Gail (a self-confessed gym-phobe)

Happy 51st Day of Grace, Max! Your weekend sounds great, we at this house tend to avoid things where there are huge crowds present. But we are always willing to hear the details from those who went.

Kisses,
Stella

I'm so glad that you had a good weekend MaxDog, although I'm sorry that mom didn't feel so great. Give her some snuggles to help her - doggy snuggles are the best medicine ever!

Loved the carnival and the HUGE gym. It looks super modern and ready to serve a lot of peeps.

Enjoy a quiet rainy day (although I suppose that it's almost bedtime there by now). I hope that both you and your mom had a good day healthwise.

It looks like your family had a fun weekend, the Carnival City and gym pictures are spectacular!...Glad to hear your Mom is feeling better though...Wonderful news you are hanging in there and enjoying your days with your loved ones, Max...Blessings and love to you all everyday.

Oh my, MAX, I think that I would have been content to stay there with you, Tammy and Toffee. I'm not to keen on crowds and loud noises unless it's thunder. For some reason, that doesn't bother me. I think I equate thunder with Almighty God and know that He knows where to send the lightning bolts best.
MAX, do you like cheese? When we're having upset tummies it's chicken, rice and cheese. Keep mom feeling better.

Hi Max,

I’m glad that you’re enjoying your 51st day of grace. I know your mum has probably tried all sorts of things to get you to eat, but the girl at our vets gave my mum a trick which works for me and other dogs that we know when we loose interest in food. With my normal “branded” dry kibble (that we get from the vets) she suggested adding a couple of spoonfuls of tinned dog food from the supermarket (so mushy and jelly like!) – the mix of different textures in the same bowl with the stronger smells and flavours gets my appetite going again.

I hope your mom is feeling much better now. I also give my mum flowers - I disappear into the garden then come back with blue flowers stuck all over my golden fur (Cape Plumbago from South Africa!!!) which makes her smile.

Have a great week Max,

Luv,
Riley

I hope your mom is feeling better. Maybe she caught my cold and fever virtually!?

I hope you're feeling good too, Max! I worry about you just like you were my own dog! Congrats on 51 days of grace.

It's been pretty yucky here too ever since it turned to spring. We got hail one day and snow two days last week. Yesterday was chilly and today it's kinda gray and rainy.

That gym is beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen a gym that nice around here.

Oh, how I wish I could have sat next to you at the Circus. One thing in your photos did look familiar - the slot machines! We have Native American tribes close to where I live. The US government cannot dictate to the Tribes regarding local or State laws so if there is an Indian tribe - you will find a casino!
