Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

Day 102

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXMOM here...

Another new day...and this one is a ‘hold my breath’ day!

After the wonderful two days over the weekend with fabulous walks, today offers unsettling moments.

 Maxdog
is very much off his food. It really is a mission to get him to eat.
Occasionally I am able to sneak a biscuit or some egg in, but generally he scoffs at the food on offer preferring to sleep away the day.

He has now earned another nick-name...”Thumper” because if you call him or if he is aware that you are looking at him, he thumps his tail hard on the floor in acknowledgement.

As we have come to learn, the walks tell all and so I took him and Tammy out for a jaunt in the cul-de-sac.

Yep, all is fine..!!!

....he sprinted away to the green belt, marked his territory and scoured the perimeter for those soft strands of green grass.

It’s simply another God-granted day with my ailing dog.
The 102nd Day of Grace!

Maxdog seems to be saying:
“I just need to rest beside you”.
And this I will gladly grant.

Oh, how I remember those days with my Fritz 3 years ago....you can be so glad to have already over 100 days of grace; we had only 2 weeks of sickness and sufferings and so he was at the Rainbow Bridge...I hope you have many more days to come!
As I see on hubby here, if you take a fatal illness with good moods and don't become too desperate and keep on seeing ahead and just be happy every day, tumors somehow seem to dislike this positiveness and crumple...
Greetings from the North - we are thinking of you!

Who would have guess Maxdog would have had 100+ Days of Grace? Each day is a blessing and if today only brings the thump of a tail, that too is a blessing.

All of our love goes to you and Max (and of course the rest of your crew!). Hang in there, we're sending our positive and loving thoughts your way!

Whoops! That should have said "guessED," not "guess"! I guess I'm still asleep! :)

We are so pleased you can read all the subtle nuances of Maxdog's feeling. It means you provide him with exactly what he needs each day ~ whether that be a rest, or a walk, or just good old love. Enjoy!

We are sending you love and purrs.

Today's post makes me think about my eighty eight year old father. Like Max, his chief remaining pleasure, at a time of life when so much has been lost (old friends, strength, teeth, memory, appetite etc) is to go out for a daily walk down to the river and back, and one dreads the days when he no longer will even care to do this.
Best wishes, Gail.

All any of us ever have is the one day and sometimes even less than that..

Try adding peanut butter to his pancakes. An excellent source of protein. I read somewhere that meat, especially beef, can aggravate Max's condition and cause too much ammonia to build up in his urine/body due to the failing liver. The article said to stick to 'easy' sources of protein: eggs, cheese, peanut butter, cottage cheese. Just FYI.

Will be working on Max's slider show later today. Right now the sun is shining and I have a flower garden that is calling my name☺

Hey Maxdog and Max Mom,
Our Jubal is a "thumper" (why get up if you don't rteally have to?) and he very much resembles Maxdog. Jubal and his "Jubal Mom," AnnMarie, share a relationship much as you two do. Fortunately, at this time we aren't dealing with any known afflictions, though we have dealt with your circumstances numerous times previously. May GOD grant youse guys just one more day as it is now for tomorrow; and perhaps one more day tomorrow for the next day, and perhaps one more day after that. We wish you a GReat day together. Our prayers continue and we hold you close because we love you.

Oh Max, it hurts my heart to think of you not eating. I can understand you don't feel good so the last thing you want to do is eat but you'll just get worse if you don't eat!

My dad's ancient beagle used to thump her tail quite a bit too. Now all she does is sleep. She really is very old and each day with her is a blessing, just as each additional day with Max is a blessing!

Max you must eat, food is good. George the Welsh and his Mommy put a recipe on his blog that might appeal to you.
http://georgethelad.blogspot.com/

Please eat, as a little sister who just lost a big brother, please eat for your girl friend/sister Tammy. Food is what gives you strength to walk on your walks. More strenght = More walks.
