Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

JEANNIE: ENERGISER BUNNY!!!

mmmWOOF!
GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXDOG here...

Firstly I want to thank my girlfriend TAMMY for doing such a great post yesterday.

I would also like to THANK YOU ALL!!!...

... for your wonderful comments, encouragement and inspiration which came our way via the blog yesterday. We also realise that there are many folk out there in bloggie-land, who read our blog regularly and who are struggling with their health. We hope that we bring you all some warmth and cheer.

To those, who are ill or sad...

GET BETTER SOON!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

WE CARE ABOUT YOU!

xxxx

Yesterday, we had our little visitor again:

JEANNIE

She is really cute and comes and disrupts our household substantially!

Her excessive energy is invigorating (like puppies are) and we love having her here!!!

Her Daddy brought her again and this resulted in an extra walk for all of us,

(including TOFFEE the egotistical one).

So there were five of us on our regular walk, which caused some drivers to stop their cars and comment. I love that! It highlights my 'pack leader' status.

Well, all JEANNIE wanted to do was play all evening!
Thank goodness there was FOUR of us dogs around, so we could take turns in entertaining her...

At the end of the evening, JEANNIE's Daddy insisted on a photoshoot.
TAMMY & I obliged him and lined ourselves up. We sat there for about 10 minutes whilst JEANNIE tried to get her act together.

But we are experienced doggies, so we simply sat there and waited for her to settle.
Good news... she eventually got it right!

Don't you guys think this is a cute photo?

COME VISIT AGAIN SOON, JEANNIE!!!
---XxX---

...and since it is a weekend,
I thought I'd do a little of my "TOUR GUIDE" stuff and show you something local...
We have some amazing folk here in SOUTH AFRICA!!!:
Many of our people who work with our animals are well educated, well experienced and extremely knowledgable. They do important and wonderful work for our wildlife and contribute to the conservation of our great heritage.
This is one of our special people, who is in the news at the moment
because of his work with lions:
Kevin Richardson...
(seemingly our local lion whisperer)

"Kevin Richardson swims with "Meg" the lion in the Crocodile River just south of the Magaliesburg mountains, near Johannesburg, South Africa. Kevin Richardson raises and interacts with some of the most dangerous animals known to man."
CHECK OUT THIS INCREDIBLE VIDEO (and THIS ONE TOO)of Kevin & Meg the lioness.
(You really HAVE to see it!!!)
That is all from the desk of
TOUR GUIDE MAX
Have a wonderful weekend!
Lots of licks

That lion whisperer is nutty, huh?

I am so confused about the puppy. I don't know whether to bitey him or kiss him.

Slobbers,

Jeannie is SO cute Max, and that is a wonderful group picture of you guys!

That lion whisperer picture is very sweet, but at the same time you can't help but think the lioness could bite his head off if she really wanted to, yikes!!! I'm sure glad she seems very friendly, BOL!

Have a great weekend!

Luv,
Cloud

Woo - you were almost a Thundering Herd in your walk. We have people stop all of the time, too, when we walk, and Queen Natasha is quite clear that she is alpha.

That is quite a big Kitty-Cat.

Very enjoyable post, as always. Thank you for introducing us to the lovely and lively Jeannie, and your picture was wonderful! I noticed the Maltese avoided the pupparozzi chaos! Your extra walk reminded me of our 3-Poodle festive walks. We will often have people wave and say hello to us, it is very cheerful to brighten up someone's day that way! Have a lovely weekend in South Africa, and PS what a fantastic header picture!!!

Doesn't it make you feel good to pose for your people? We do it, too. Actually quite obligingly (is that how you spell it? ) We can imagine how much fun it is to have Jeannie there... we have two puppies in our neighborhood.. and they are FULL of energy! So far we haven't gotten any pictures with them... but we will!

Enjoy your weekend,
Jake and Fergi xxoo

Lotslicks back at ya, Max. I love it!

That lion-man should at least wear a shirt or many a bullet-proof vest or padded vest or somethin'. He's crazy.

I'd like to wrestle lions--maybe little ones like cubs or toy stuffed-animal ones. There's a neighborhood cat I've been watching (I'll post a pic to my blog). I think I could take him. Yep, I've got my eye on him. He's pretty big...almost as big as that lion (and they're all related, you know--cats)--he might look normal housecat sized from the picture, but it lies. When he's the other side of my fence, I think I intimate him...or is it "intimidate"? I'm rough and tough!

very nice paw prints...I have a feeling mom needed a little rest after all the rough housing and playing. Thank goodness you helped and were the pack leader.

We loved your group picture. We are having a hard time getting one here because Mister Higgins won't sit still! We watched both the videos too. Amazing stuff, but very scary!

No really! Lions! I'm hidin', can't watch those big kitties..I'm terrified of just regular house kitties.
Jeanie is pretty cute you guys! And that photo!!! And, more walkies! Sounds like a good deal for all.

Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

Jeannie looks like she'd be a blast to have around! Does your mom walk all 5 of you at one time - or does someone else go with her? Our mom can only walk two of us at a time.
I LOVE the group photo - you and Tammie (beautiful Tammy!) were really patient!
That Lion Whisperer is wild!

Hi Max,
Now, I realise that you are a natural at it Max, but you must realise that there are some of us dogs out there who don't quite have the patience to pose for all those photos that a blog requires. I'm sure Jeannie will get the hang of it better if she comes to visit often.
Cheers, H.
PS I wouldn't go swimming with a lion. No way!
PPS from Gail - like you're pretending you WOULD swim if there wasn't a lion in the water Hamish??

My Dearest MaxDog,

I LOVE that every time I visit your blog Max, you transport me to a different land. You and Tammy act as my own personal tour guides of South Africa. You show me sites I have never seen and tell me important facts that I never knew. It's like I am right there next to you Max seeing and hearing all of this, not at home recovering from yet another surgery. For a short time Max, your able to take my pain away while I read of Lion Whisperers and laugh at elephants scarying visitors.

To you and your family Max I say,

THANK YOU!

You and your family lift my spirit each time I visit your blog. As well as expand my mind.

Bless You and Yours,

Tessa and Blu (Tessa's Mum)

That Jeannie sure is a cutie!! I think her fur color is very complimentary to yours - you should pose with her more often!!

Your local wildlife is certainly impressive. Some stray snapping turtles & woollybears is the best we can do around here - don't hold a candle to you!!

Hey there Max... the pups adorable and ur right total energy, but she will also learn great behaviour from you... love the group shot..

How big is a female lion, not sure Id swim with one...amazing and do you realise she has the same coloured coat as you do?

Maxmom said...

ABBEY - Female lions (that one) is about 150kg!

A NOTE FROM MAX'S MOM:
I think what we should understand is that a relationship with a WILD animal (like Kevin R has with his animals)is utterly unique!!! Only a few people ever accomplish this!!! It takes immense understanding and experience to form such a relationship!!!
We can begin our own understanding of this lion/man relationship by looking at our own relationship with our dogs. There is an echo there!...
After years and years of training of our own dogs, we realise we can trust them with certain requests implicitly, but others they might waiver, since their instinct is too great.
So too it is with WILD animals...they require RESPECT for their instincts and understanding of their design. A relationship with them, I feel, is a "GIFT" which is not given to many people and it serves also to pioneer the understanding of their species.
I have total admiration for this man! He has a Bachelor of Science degree and has responded to his calling to work with these animals.
