Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

Max, Max, Max

Stop showing us such lovely photos because you know ... the not-so-little man wants to visit Mexico but the rest of the family want to go to SA for Christmas and they're trying very hard to persuade him that SA is the way to go!! But the NSLM's Mom is plant/flower crazy so now there's a real battle in the house - Mexico or SA???

Those flower photos are absolutely fabulous! You are indeed very lucky to live in such a beautiful country!

lots of woofs
Clive

Very beautiful, Max! But what kind of plants are #5, #6 (this looks like a Venus Flytrap) and #7?

So very exotic! Won't you tell us, Max?

Kisses,
Stella

Hey there my furry friends.
Just to answer some questions:...

The flowers posted in this blog entry (with the exception of the carnivorous flytraps and sundews #5#6#7 - thanx Stella!-which are not indigenouse to SA) are mostly succulents. Although they are truly exquisite, they will only last for about a week!!!
Some time ago, I put in a post about Namaqualand, well these are the blooms that happen there too. Miles and Miles of countryside (in Namaqualand) is awash with colour.
THESE photos are truly special because they are taken in someone's garden here in JOHANNESBURG. We are really lucky to be able to see them so beautifully displayed!
So you see, we celebrate each moment as it happens, because you never know how long it will last!
Have a wonderful, happy day!

Hey Max, my mum loves photos of flowers so she is very happy to see all these. I won't let her put photo flowers on my blog though, unless I'm in them too.

What lovely pictures. RSA really is a paradise on earth for nature oovers. We once went to a place north of Capetown called Bushmans Kloof to see South Africas (rare ) national plant - we've now forgotten what it's called a Proteus perhaps. Can you help?

Very beautiful flowers Max, thanks so much for showing them to us. I'm imagining that the 'someone' in whose garden they grow does not have a dog (or at least not a terrier!)
Cheers, H.

What magnificent flowers! Mom has never seen Venus Fly Trap growing naturally - only as a potted plant! Thank you for the smiles, Max!

Hi Max - wow, we'e blown away by the colour!! So, considering that us dogs are colour blind must mean that those flowers are spectaculour, he he he! Our humans loved these photos - you are fortunate to be surrounded by such beauty. Thanks for posting these picutures, they're amazing. Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Woo, Max! Those are GORGEOUS pictures, buddy! I love the colors in ALL of them. Since I am Mom's Guide Dog for the Color Blind, I love to get inspiration from flowers and sunsets and all kinds of cool stuff to help her with her quilts and bags. Wouldn't the colors in that last one make a great quilt? Woo!
Mom likes the second to the last pic best. Great angle!
Luv,
Dave
