Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

THE WAITING GAME!

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXDOG here...

Hello there to all my readers and furry buddies from across our beautiful planet! We hope you are all well (and warm!) as we continue into our Christmas season.

Here in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA, we are experiencing the most beautiful weather!!!:

... gorgeous, clear, blue skies, total sunshine (except for the regular afternoon thunderstorms), wonderful gardens and the sound of all the amazing birds which have invaded our city! Most folk have embarked on their annual excursion to the seasides of South Africa, so our city is kinda 'empty' of people, but we have elected to stay here, at home, and enjoy our truly exquisite weather!!!

I went out into the garden today and it seems that we have received an incredibly

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS GIFT!

Mom has never seen one of these in her life!!!

AN ORANGE SUNFLOWER!!!...

Isn't it truly amazing!?!
There is a kaleidoscope of floral wonders invading our garden at the moment, so I thought I'd make you a collage of some of them...

As for TAMMY....she is making full use of the sunshine!!!

"TAMMY!!!!!....COME!!!"

We all went into the lounge to see what was happening...

Our little friend...JEANNIE...had arrived... to come and spend some time with us!
It seems that Father Christmas has endowed her with the longest ears ever!...

Well, as we were sitting in the lounge, I looked at the Christmas tree.
Look at this....

Well, since it was addressed to ME- THE MAXDOG, I thought I'd take it!!!
Mom wasn't impressed!...

She removed it from my mouth and put it back on the Christmas tree!
I tell you...this is torture!!!
What is this waiting game anyway?!?
Oh well, I will simply sleep the time away.
...and guard the gifts!!!

Enjoy your waiting games too!
AND have a wonderful, happy and sunny weekend!!!
(Okay, I know some of you are snowed in, but stay with us to experience some of the sunshine!!!)
Lots of loving licks

Toddlers and dogs - neither are imbued with patience - but there again would we have it any other way? I guess Toffee is a paragon and never gets into trouble.

Hi Max
What beautiful flowers! We could do with some here to brighten things up in this cold grey northern city. We don't even have any snow yet (unlike the south of the country). Well I too am waiting patiently for Christmas. I may have given the wrong impression in my last post, we do do Christmas here, in fact we have a lovely tree, but I've been holding out on allowing Gail to photograph me in front of it!)
Stay calm Max and enjoy a good snooze. You look so very comfortable there.
Cheers! H.

Hi MaxDog,

It's a good thing...you must have been a good doggie all year to have a pressie under the tree. I know you can do it and wait until Christmas to open it.

We are so jealous...we love flowers and it looks so beautiful there this time of year and all it is here is cold, cold and cold ! Our winters are too long and it's only the beginning. Thinking warm thoughts while I look at your post.

Lucky you, Max, to have a warm sunny Christmas with flowers. It is below freezing here today.

Your mom is mean to make you wait, you are a good boy to guard the tree.

That sunflower is amazing! What a Christmas gift from nature!

I understand MaxDog - it is soooo tough to wait. We all feel the same way. You're such a cutie when you're waiting, though.

Please keep the summer photos coming. Remind us all that it will be warm again!!!!!

Love the picture of Tammy enjoying the sunshine! Our little poodles spend sunny days (in summer) on their special cozy mats on our deck. Nothing like watching a loved dog enjoying a nap in the sunshine! Merry Christmas and happy waiting to you all from snowy Anchorage Alaska!! xoxo

I wish we had that weather here. It's been too cold. My people don't like to take walks when it's chilly out. I hope you and Tammy get some lovely gifts from Santa Paws.

All the other flowers are lovely though as well - great to see sunshine and imagine heat. It is absolutely freezing here at the moment!

What pretty flowers! We don't have any flowers here now. It got too cold. :(

And if you want to get into that present, just blame a kitty. Not that I'd know anything about that!!!

Hugs!

Guests are fun, huh! We will be having Moose's girlfriends come to stay for Christmas and he can't wait! Also we DEFINITELY welcome training tips! It is actually one of the bigest reasons we post things like that. I have learned lots of useful things from readers so it is greatly appreciated. I have tried this with two types of treats and both are flat on the bottom- I thought smaller of the 2 would be easier to balance but now that you mention it I do agree that bigger is easier to balance and catch! I have not thought about standing myself but notice that he does better while he is standing so it makes sense. Also I like the hand signal suggestion, Moose does very well with hand signals but sometimes it does not occur to me! Sorry for the rambling but wanted to let you know that suggestions are always welcome!
p.s. on the post before you commented that you did not see moose in the last picture so I lightened it up. That is the trouble with photographing black dogs!

That spectacular sunflower was just what we needed to see! It has been sooo long since we have seen anything blooming at all.
We now havwe rain and 5o miles away at Mt Hood it is snowing.
Max, I know it is so hard when we must go by moms rules and they take stuff away from us!
So instead - relax and dream!

Mom says thank you so much for the flower pictures! The orange sunflower is just beautiful!
There are no gifts under our tree - yet! Mom is afraid that someone, who will remain nameless because Santa is watching and I don't want to get caught snitching, would open them!

Wow, Christmas in mid-summer, hard to imagine!! Do people buy holiday bikinis instead of holiday sweaters like they do here?? Flip-flops instead of boots - wow!!
That orange sunflower is beautiful, didn't even know they came in that color!! Soak up some sun for us, will ya? The days are so short here that we are almost forgetting what the sun looks like!!

Lucky Dog, living in beautiful South Africa! Some friends of ours are headed there right after Christmas--they go every year to spend the winter. Smart people.

So nice to see so many gorgeous flowers and hear about nice, WARM weather! It is supposed to be around freezing here tonight, and Grammy is trying to save the firewood for next week when her grandson comes for several days to visit. (Our place is warmed by an old wood stove)

Your pictures make her feel a little warmer, she says.

We read that Lorenza is busy guarding her presents and tree too, as is Stella the Fluff. I think that is one of our main duties at this time of year all around the world! OC and the CCC
