IT'S STILL RAINING

GREETINGS FROM A RAINY JOHANNESBURG!!!
MAXDOG here...

Firstly, let me say a big thank you to everyone who has sent me "get well" wishes. We really appreciate all your comments and support. I am an ageing dog now, so it's expected that I should slow down a little, don't you think? But more of that later.

My friends, I have neglected my TOUR GUIDE duties for some time now, so let me simply tell you about the rain!
It has really has settled in here in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA!!!.

We have had so much rain lately that they will be opening the flood gates of our main dam soon...the VAAL DAM. Many shack dwellings in the Johannesburg area have been flooded and many people have lost all their possessions. I am so thankful that I have a good house to live in!

Although we have been getting some sunshine, the humidity levels have been really high. TAMMY has been romping in mom's garden and getting herself really dirty! I think we should consider her for some mud wrestling competitions.

(Sorry no photos, but you can imagine! She looks like a zebra!)

Anyway last night, Mom went out into the garden at 7 pm.
Look at the clouds in our evening sky...

As the sun started to dip into the horizon, they looked like this...

...and finally like this...

Although I went out with her, I preferred to stay on the cool patio...

I am still not very well, but am I am chugging along. Mom says that the liver meds might be making me nauseous...I think so. I still stay close to her for comfort, but this afternoon she insisted that the two of us go and check out the garden...

I managed to appease her with a few sniffs here and there...

Then I heard something in the shrub and pricked up my ears...
This old Maxdog is still on alert!

...but it was nothing worth writing home about!
The big surprise was a new flower in Mom's garden...

...aint that stunning!?!
The small ones are just as pretty...

Well eventually Mom said to me,
"Max, your bloggie friends are worried about you! Don't you want to strike up a pose for them?"

So although it's not my best picture, I did make the effort for you guys!

Thank you again for thinking of me.
I love you all so much too!

Hi Max
Very well done for making such a effort. I know how it feels, I've been under the weather too myself just lately. When you get older, it's just not possible to be bouncy and happy all the time is it?
At least you have some beautiful flowers to enjoy.
Hope you stop feeling sick soon.
Cheers, H.

Max we are sad that you still aren't feeling too good - it stinks that the medicine to make you better makes you feel crummy at the same time! We are sending you lots of purrs and feel better thoughts!!

And we do love the pictures - you look wonderful, pose or no pose. And those flowers are very beautiful - you are luck to have them in your yard.

Just be you. You are the best You there is ... perfect pose or not. We love you and want you to be comfortable and happy. Same thing goes for your moma.

Mr. Max, you need to feel better ASAP! That's an order! We don't like seeing you down. I hope the medicine helps and then you can be back to running around.

And you're not aging, you're distinguished! That's what mom calls Duncan!

Yeah, sweet Max, you're an aging dog. I realize that. So now that you've acknowledged that, be strong. And always go for walks, always exercise. It'll keep you feeling younger. I'm taking my Linguini for a walk in about an hour. I like to give my sissy daily exercise too since she's your age. Mwah!

You share nausea with my husband that has been experiencing an undiagnosed problem for 2 years. Thank you for sharing the lovely flowers and cloud photos. Las Vegas has seen quite a bit of rain the last week. It is nice for a change. I hope everyone there in South Africa remains safe. Love ya too!

Hi Max!

I wish you and Hamish would start aging backwards, instead of counting the add-on years. You are 10 now, next year you be 9, then 8 and you'll feel younger right along. Same for Hamish, he is 14, then 13, then 12. Who invented this? Merlin the Magician, of course. So see if getting younger will make you feel better.

I am thinking of you every day hoping you get over whatever is making you sick.

Kisses,
Stella

I agree with Stella, aging backwards sounds right Max!

Thats the way to go!

Max, sometimes a walk is good for you and your soul! At least it was good for your mom's soul and I'm sure she needs inspiration from your garden for her writing. I hope you are feeling better soon! Feeling sick is no fun!

As Jake and Fergi said, you really don't have to do anything special for us - we love seeing all your photos, but you did do a lovely job in that shot by the pool. You have such a pretty garden. We love those pink flowers next to you in the first garden shots.

We hope the rains let up soon, we feel badly for those people who are losing their homes.

Feel better, Maxx, we have our paws crossed for you.

Hi Maxdog,

I hope it feels better for you to get up and outside to get some fresh air for a little bit. We are sending good healing thoughts your way. Mom is not sure but was wondering what is your exact age? I know I'm an old lady of 8 years and that's getting up there for a great dane. Here's hoping you feel better soon.

Hi Max
Thank you for sharing the new pictures of you. I know your trying to take care of your family.
But my heart is sad- cause you don't feel good. But I will wait for the medicine to help you- cause I said special paw prayers for you.
I was thinking I would like to come down and play with Tammy in the mud. Do you think it would be okay? Maybe Toffee can play too.
And then I will come snuggle with you.
Thank you for the sky show pictures - it was breathtaking.
We like to look at Khyras sky too- and now I see how beautiful your sky is too.
i send you LOVE

Hey there everybody!

Thank you for all the nice uplifting comments...you guys are stars!!

STELLA: That is a fabulous idea of aging backwards! Why did I not think of it myself?..maybe because Im getting old?! (hehe!)

ANNA: "DISTINGUISHED" sounds excellent...I'll tell mom to take note of her word usage!

KASHA: I'm 10YRS old 'uh-oh' ... I mean "distinguished"...in March this year!

TWEEDLES DEAREST:...Of course you can come and play with Tammy! Do you also dig up gardens?

OKAY, THIS MORNING'S UPDATE (ie. 9.3oam SA time):
I woke Mom up with a muzzle nudge this morning. She was thrilled because I haven't done that for over a week. I also ate all my food, but not quite with my usual vigor. Im still sleepying a lot, but mom thinks thats because the antibiotics have kicked in. The other good news - I went for a walk last night and happily annointed all the trees. So in summary...maybe, just maybe, Im improving.

Love you all lots

Hi Max,

Our mom wants us to tell you she adores the wisp of curly golden fur on your silky ears!! Makes her want to run her fingers through them..

Sorry to hear that the meds are making you nausea.. if it's any consolation at all, our mom's new meds causes a 'dire-rear'... but the 'dire-rear' went away after a while so I guess the body needs to get used to the meds. Hope you feel better soon.
