Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

EVERYDAY IS "SUN-DAY"!

mmmWOOF!
GREETINGS FROM SUNNY SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXDOG here...

Hello there all my very special furry-friends!

The past week has been rather hectic in bloggie-land with all the Halloween preparations and various competitions in our cyber-world.

---xXx---

Firstly, I would like to say "THANK YOU!" again to all my wonderful buddies who voted for me in the "AWESOME BLOG AWARD". Mom and I were quite overwhelmed with all your support, votes and good wishes. We really appreciate all your efforts. Some of you really went the 'extra-mile' for us and we want you to know that we are extremely grateful!

It seems that in the end the poll was 19/19, which Mom thinks is absolutely wonderful!!! We'll wait and see how DWB handles the "TIE". Congratulations to Hershey and Husky too on their awesome blog!

---xXx---

Now, about all the Halloween festivities. I must say, we were hugely impressed with all the costumes and party preparations that our friends all over the world were getting up to. Here in South Africa not much happens in terms of Halloween, so it was wonderful to witness it all (from a distance) and to see it all for the very first time. WOW!!! You all looked quite amazing in all your outfits! Thank you for sharing it all with us!

Our weekend was full too. We had the whole family home and had a big Sunday lunch - out on the patio - watching the birds, enjoying the comany and absorbing the sunshine.

In amongst the flowers in the garden, one of my humans found this pair of

"Fairy shoes".

They are absolutely exquisite!!!

So, we are really happy to say that "nature" provided our own little Halloween gift - to you all - in the form of these shoes. Take a look...

We would like to know which "fairy cinderella" in cyber-space left their slippers in our garden???

(MOM SAYS: Those little shoes are actually the buds off this plant (above) - the wild rhubarb bush! If you look at the top part of the flowering stem, you will see the buds that haven't yet opened. The 'white' part is what has formed the little 'slippers'. Aren't they absolutely beautiful!?!)

So, I hope you are now asking, "What sort of weekend did the dogs have?"

I can happily report that we had a wonderful time with the family! On Saturday morning mom gave us all baths and brushes. Us dogs always enjoy our grooming - except for TOMMY, who is old and really doesn't like it.

Anyway, once we were all spruced up, it was the inevitable photo-session.

Eish, Mom and that flashy beast!!!

Then....voices from the kitchen........."M-A-X!"
That means....RUN!!!

One of the girls had granted us 'biscuit time'.
(Check out how TOFFEE does his dance on his hind legs!)

The nice thing about having the girls and their boyfriends around is that we can sneak in EXTRA WALKS!!! ...and we had so many this weekend! (I'm NOT complaining!)

Mom says that I should also show you some photos of Johannesburg at the moment. She is totally enthralled with all the foliage around and has taken millions of pictures of the tree tunnels and our famous JACARANDA TREES. So here are some general photos of our city's trees....

TREE TUNNELS!

and JACARANDA TREES...

These ones (above) are just moving out of their blossoming period - you can see the green leaves emerging.

However, the main roads are lined with our purple trees IN FULL BLOOM!

Mom tried to get a close-up picture for you. It's a bit blurry, but you can get an idea of their pretty blossoms. By the way, these little blossoms are quite a road hazzard since they make the roads extremely slippery!

Anyway, after that full weekend, I am now tired...

What better way to catch up than with a snoooooooooze-zzz-zzz on my favourite couch!?!
Have a wonderful day!
Lots and lots of licks and big "THANK YOU!"S again to all my wonderful buddies!!!

Beautiful pictures. Love the blossoms. It's so nice to see nature coming to life, when here the nature prepares herself for the winter sleep.

Oh Max dog....I'm so glad you had a wonderful weekend. Tell your mom thanks for sharing the budding of the trees with us. We going in to fall and loosing our leaves. I love the colors but it makes me sad because it seems like they stay bare for so long. So I'll rejoice knowing the trees are coming alive in South Africa :)

Have a great week.

Great photos, through and through. I love the ones of Max and Toffee sitting. What a cute cute pair! And then, the fairy slippers are precious. And, seeing the tunnels of green trees is amazing from my winter wonderland. Wow.

But the final one of Max sleeping is my favorite. What a contented and happy dog.

Hi Max. Looks like you had a fun filled weekend! Beautiful pictures! Those fairy shoes are so cool! Pretty blossoms! You all look very beautiful!

All the pictures are most wonderful, Max!

My Mom got all misty over the fairy slippers because when she was a little girl, they used to make dolls out of Hollyhock flowers and buds. Fairy slippers would have been the frosting on the cake!

Happy November for you all!

Kisses,
Stella

A snooze on the couch. A snooze on the couch. That looks so wonderful. Of course, we aren't aLLOWed on the couch because our mom is really MEAN, but woo, does that look comfy. Sigh.
Those tree tunnels are so cool!

Oh what sweet little slippers provided by Mother Nature. And we are adoring the Jacaranda trees! We have NOTHING like them in Alaska. Interesting that they can make the roads very slippery! I would rather slide around on purple Jacaranda blossoms rather than snow and ice any day! Thanks for the lovely blog posts. xoxo

Wonderful pics again! Just absolutely love your blog!

It really is fantastic to see how you are getting ready for summer with all the leaves on the trees popping out. Then here in the states our trees are loosing their leaves and preparing for a long winters sleep.

Thank you, Hugs, Tessa

Max, what a nice weekend, well except for the bath part(yuck). I am so happy that you tied for the award. I voted for you of course, but sometimes ties are ok too, cause you both have super terrific blogs. My Mom went crazy for the picture of the lady slipper, that was so cool. I had a nice Halloween, but I am glad it is over.

Hi Max
What beautiful photos you shared.
It looks like it is sunny and warm and flowers are blooming.
Our part of the world is getting colder everyday. Jack Frost visited this morning.
The little slippers are precious.
There are some flowers here that are called that- but yours look REAL. Ours do not!

Wow, Max! You really know how to make the most of your days!
I'm glad your mom stopped by my blog this morning, that allows me to see what my "country of origin" is like! Not that many of my ancestors came from South Africa (my mom's Swedish and my dad's Australian...) but a few do! Far back enough, they all did. What country did your parents originally come from - do you know?

Those cute little slippers are amazing and Mom LOVES how pretty the purple trees are. Your area is just SOOOOO gorgeous! We are in the desert here, which does have it beautiful moments, but not much green during most of the year. We love seeing the pics, and you give us such neat information.

You guys all look so nice after your grooming session, too! OC
