Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"

SEE-SAW GAMES

Hello there to every furry buddy!
GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
TOFFEE here today...

I think it is time I shared something with everyone about the

"REAL" MAXDOG....

Yes, the truth is long overdue!!!

(I think!)

You see, he is not as nice as you all think him to be - especially with me! Come on, I have a right to rule this house and have some of Mom's attention! But you see, the MAXDOG is a selfish character! Yes, he is! ... especially when it comes to anything to do with 'stuffies' or playing!

Did you see him with the collection yesterday!? You have to admit - that the number of stuffies he has access to is

OUTRAGEOUS!!!

...and he doesn't want to share those with ANYONE! Us other dogs in this house have nothing to call our own! It's a sad world here in the MAX household, I say!!!

Anyway this morning I convinced Mom that I was looking really cute and I got her to start playing with me on the bed. And would believe it, she played with me with an old cloth belt?

But who am I to complain about what she uses...Play is play!

We were having such fun playing "CHASE" and "TUG"!!!
Just MOM and I!

I got to believe that I was the new "AIR BUD"!

Well, trust MAX to come and spoil the fun!!!
He gets Mom's attention by moaning and then gives her that "dreamy-eyed" look.
It always works!
She reacts to him far too fast!
(I think!)
Yep, the selfish MAXDOG took over!!!...while I, the TOFFEE, could only watch!

Yep, the game and ALL the attention suddenly switched to him!

Then Mom got that worried look on her face...something about the belt being bad for his teeth!
Why is it such an issue anyway?
Afterall I had been playing with the belt and there was no problem!
But Mom succumbed and offered him "his" Giraffe instead...

It worked, because I know that MAX thinks that ALL stuffies belong to him....!
(so unfair!!!)

Suddenly our game 'on the bed' became
MAX'S FETCH GAME
...in the passage!
(Yes, you are correct...the game didn't involve me at all!!!)

Doesn't "HE" look absolutely pathetic!!!?

Eish! What is a little doggie like me supposed to do about this situation?
How is a little CUTE Maltese doggie like me suppose to deal with this big and selfish MAXDOG?
Do tell me!
Lots of licks
TOFFEE

Hi Toffee. You are really, really cute so I would not worry about Max too much. I am sure that everyone loves you too. I am looking forward to meeting you soon.

ok Toffee......i will have a heart to heart with Maxi ( after all, we smallies must stick together...)

i will call him when the hoomans sleep as that's when we gossip and i will ensure he SHARES as it's not nice to be so selfish with one's siblings, k?

i need my beauty sleep now so that i will be wide awake later to chat with him

Toffee, You are so cute that I'm certain that your mom will play with you lots and lots. That Maxdog sounds like the FUN POLICE. That's what we call our young R - whenever I try to play with our more reticent older K, R barges in and takes over. So, sometimes, I take K outside to play by herself. It puts R into a tizzy but K knows how special she is.

BTW, sometimes the best toys are the simple cloth belts etc.

You are sooo cute Toffee.

well, Being as how we have ME the large, intelligent, beautiful Standard Poodle that I am and the the little Scooter, chihuahua who is cute but missing a few sandwiches in his picnic basket (translation...not soo smart) I get the problem. But it looks as though YOU are on the bed and MAX is not. That's worth something!

Well Toffee, we little dogs have a great big advantage over large but endearing dogs such as Max, WE can be picked up and carried everywhere!! We can view the world from high above as our moms and dads walk or dance with us! Don't tell Max we gave you our secret! xoxoxo Toby, Ginger and Jeter (as dictated to their Mom, Ina)

Toffee, there is no question that small white fluffy dogs are the cutest. Of this there can be absolutely no doubt. Now Max, is a fine chap in his own way, but I suspect that the only reason he appears to you to get so much attention is that your Mom wants to compensate him for the fact that he is NOT small white and fluffy. Am I right?
Cheers, H.

Hi Toffee nice to me you, TJ here. I'm a Shih Tzu and Jake take all of the lime light here.

Between Jake whining when he's not getting the attention and w/ Maddie being the alpha dog around her....all I can say is thank goodness I'm cute.

Have a great day and let us stick together :)

Hi Toffee,

Max is so kind to all his stuffies, maybe he is worried you will try to destuff them. But we too are very sure that Mom loves you a lot and tries to find other ways to give you lots of attention. We bet you fit very nicely on her lap, not so much with the MaxDog, right? Sometimes Mom has to put TD out so she can give lots of loving to Phantom. Maybe you should whipser that suggestion in her ear while she is sleeping.

So sorry Toffee about the situation with Maxdog. He certainly has a ton of stuffies, that's for sure. I hope mama plays with you more often - you look so happy with the cloth belt - and so adorable!!! Glad to hear from you once in a while. Mom is just finally getting caught up on bloggies and so glad to see you here!

Hi Toffee, I think you look absolutely cute! Your Mom is probably playing more with Max coz he likes to retrieve (Golden Retriever, right? LOL!)...I think she enjoys your cuddles more, so you do what you do best, sit with her and be cute and pretty! hehe! *grins*

Thanks for your Mom's comment on my blog...it's cool to hear another opinion from another person who knows about medicine!

Martha said...

Hi Toffee
I can so relate to everything you say - in my case just swap Max for Martha!
Funny how both these spoiled pooches have names beginning with M - perhaps it is a sign!
I also love to play with my mum but of course along comes Martha!
Like Max she can look absolutely adorable and our mum responds, like yours, far too quickly.
Now Toffee you and I are both adorable too so I suggest we get our heads together and figure out how we fix our sibling spoiling our fun.
love and kisses

Hi Toffee! Your so precious! I'm sure Max would let you play with all his stuffies! You better be careful with the belt, you don't want to hurt your teeth! Have a great Toffee! Tell MaxDog we said HI!!

Get used to it squirt. Somebody has to be the big dog. Hey, I do the same thing only if momma is playing with my stupid brother I just head butt his little squirmy self across the room. SQUEEEEE!

Poooor Toffee pup! MAX sure does have a dreamy look about him though so I can understa.... hey wait! How did that happen? He stole your attention again and I am not even there!
Judging from that pile of stuffies I think you should use that in your favor. You could easily lie in wait in that pile and attack when he was selecting a new stuffy to play with!
good luck toffee pup!

LOL poor Toffee, well at least you got some play time!

ScrapsofMe said...

Toffee,
I couldn't agree more! When that snitty little Witch Bonnie moved in, she took ALL my stuffies and either claimed them or de-stuffed them. Even my fleece gingerbread man that I slept with! It was outrageous. Little witch gets all the play attention. Ball tosses, tug n pull, squeak toys...it's just awful. I feel so left out sometimes and I am a small white fluffy extra cute doggie too. Not only that, but she tries to body block me when I want to snuggle up with Mom. Smaller dogs unite! Take back the toys!
Puff the ancient (Bonnie is sleeping so I can use the laptop now)

You know Toffee, that Maxdog sounds just like my sister Samantha. She is always taking all the new toys. If mom or dad is petting me, she will come over and push me aside. If I get a new toy, she will sit next to me and whine and bark until I can't stand it no more and walk away so she could have the toy.

We're not sure about the little dog big dog thing because we're both kinda the same size. HOWEVER, we have noticed that the squeaky wheel (JH) seems to get the attention, just when the more quiet and mature one (I, Jake) gets his turn at tug-a-dog or catch the stuffy with our hoomans

It is what it is.

Just be happy you are so cute and so easily transportable!!!

Hi Toffee , thanks to your human for visiting my blog. It's good to see other SA canines and felines and humans on blogger. My humans have a home in Marquard, Eastern Free State. To be able to feed and house us all (we're elven pets in the household) they work in Khartoum, (North Africa) for three months and visit us for three weeks. We have other humans who care for us while they're away. We'll visit soon again and our female human who runs her blog, will visit the Tuesday tales often too. Do you know what you have done, Toffee? You have made my Mom want a cute little white playmate pup!! She always used to have little dogs and I am the first medium size one she has had. She says I play too rough! So I can see it coming now. I will have to gentle up a little if I want to stay the Main Dog!

Probably one or two more of Toffee
blogs will undo it though, so I am gonna have to be careful and you can try not to be so CUTE!

Kisses,
Stella

Toffee, you sure are a pretty thing! You almost glow and your hair looks so sofe Mom says you look like a stuffie yourself!

I think, from looking at you two, that Max is older than you and "Age hath it's privledges," according to Mom. That's why I get so much of her attention! Your time will come, and your Mom DID take some "Just YOU" time, after all! OC
