Dear Readers and faithful friends,

After a number of years of wonderful blogging, this blog has effectively become dormant - except for occasional updates regarding my book, MAXDOG. I have left this blog as a legacy to my dog and a place of sanctuary where we can reflect upon his life. Take your time, peruse the pages spanning Max's 18 months in cyberspace. Feel refreshed and uplifted because his story is an amazing one of..."LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!"
My activities have now moved on to my new blog entitled "LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX". Please join me there where you can read about my family and canine companions. I also invite you to visit MAXDOG's FANPAGE on FACEBOOK. You can follow the specific links by clicking below:

ANOTHER FULL SOUTH AFRICAN DAY!

mmmWOOF!
Hey there all my furry friends from across the globe!
If you are new to this blog...
WELCOME TO SOUTH AFRICA!

I am MAX, your TOUR GUIDE!

Some of you will know that we are currently hosting some WONDERFUL overseas doggie-guests in our beautiful country. This expedition has all been orchestrated by:

MANGO... A reall small and tiny little doggie from Master Chew Sits.
He is hosting this expedition to SOUTH AFRICA and has brought along some really sweety Gals and some handsome guy-pooches.

You can get all their own personal accounts of this tour on their blogs:

---x---

Anyway, things have been really hectic here with all these"Squatters" pitching all their tents in our parks, gate-crashing our neighbours' swimming pools, scaring away all the animals and generally creating chaos. As their Tour Guide, I am taking great pains to both rope them in and give them a truly African experience.

It's a difficult job to say the least!

My guests have almost demolished our wine stocks and the gals have taken true advantage of our TOFFEE.

Unfortunately I have some bad news to report:

The BAD news is that TOFFEE took ill last night. Although he is back home, he had to have emergencey surgery. It seems that the visiting Gals were just too much for him! His Anal glands took a dangerous turn, so unfortunately he is slightly 'out of commission' at the moment.

(You can get the serious account of this on my Mom's other blog):

http://perhapsintime-cam.blogspot.com/

The GOOD news is that the Tour is still in full swing!!!

Because I am the best Tour Guide in the country, I thought I'd show my visitors around. Here are some pictures of our excursions...
I felt that my guests needed an orientation into some of the cultural dances in our country. We are the 'RAINBOW' nation with 11 official languages and many, many, different cultures. This dance has been handed down through many generations. It is a war dance with vibrant drumming and rhythmic movement.

Well, my canine guests virtually pooped themselves!
I had to quickly find an available tree for them all to find relief.
What more appropriate than our resident BAOBAB tree.

This is the world's largest BAOBAB tree
It is 47m in circumference, so there was ample room for all our guests' toilet routines.
The Gals took a really long time with their routines, so Mango and his mates visited the pub - which is INSIDE this tree - in the left hand base. They also substantially reduced the wine in the cellar - in the right hand base.

Take a look at my Mom in the fork of that tree - to get an idea of it's size!!!
(and if you are interested to find out more about this beautiful tree, you can click on the link)
http://www.bigbaobab.co.za/baobab.html
After that, I took our guests for a game drive in the Pilansberg Nature reserve - near Johannesburg. We saw some wonderful game sightings!...

We stopped for refreshments and the resident Warthogs too came to get their own sighting of our guests! Petey and Tanner tried a game of 'Pool' with them...
(Unfortunately our guests lost the game!)
What better way to finish off the day than on the back of a Game Drive Vehicle?!
We observed yet another beautiful African Sunset.

By the time we got home, I was pooped and had to catch a bit of shut-eye.

I'm not sure what happened after that. The wine and commeradie had taken their toll.
I am sure that my mates, however, will tell their own stories on their blogs.
Thanks for visiting!
Lots of licks

Max Dude! I think you might have accidentally posted a link to Dennis. He is not with us (although I think Asta is thinking of him since she posted a link to him too). Wonder what's up with that?

That tree was totally huge. Thank goodness there is a bar inside because I was quite parched after trying to leave my Mango-ness all around.

Slobbers,
Mango

Hi Max,

So glad you found us the perfect place to compose pee-mails for all our South African friends! That tree is bigger than my apartment in New York.

Sorry to read about Toffee's ailment. I'm glad to hear that your Mom got him to the vet in the nick of time, but you can't say we didn't warn him about Lacie being a pain in the butt! Now we have medical evidence and can warn other hapless dogs who fall for her "flirting."

I will send Toffee his "Lacie Date Survivor" bracelet to the recovery room.

Your pal,

Petey

P.S. Hey! Those warthog guys, despite smelling deliciously of bacon in the noonday sun, are terrible cheats at pool!

I am so sorry to hear that Toffee is ill, though! Please give him my very best wishes - and lick your mom on the nose for me - OK?

We've been reading Asta's accounts, so we dropped over here when we read about Toffee's emergency vet visit. We're glad he's on the road to healing now. Must have been quite a scary time.
